2024-2025 Employee Parking Permits Available Beginning August 5
|
|
How do I register for a Parking Permit?
You can register for your Parking Permit through the UE Self-Service portal https://selfservice.evansville.edu using your UE username and password. The Parking Permits link is under “UE Forms.” Click on the menu icon (upper left hand corner) > UE Forms > Employee > Parking Permits. If you need assistance with accessing self-service, please contact OTS help desk at (812) 488-2077.
How much does a Parking Permit cost and how do I pay for it?
Employee Parking Permits are $50 for the academic year. Discounts for UE license plates are only valid if the plate is active at the time of permit registration. There are no discounts or refunds once the permit is assigned. The discounted fee for employees who have UE license plates is $25 for the academic year.
Payment options include:
-
quick and easy on-line payroll deduction of $10 installments over five pay periods
-
cash/check/credit card at the cashier area in Student Financial Services, Olmsted 105.
What is the process for applying and paying for a Parking Permit?
Employees will go to the appropriate link on UE Self-Service (see instructions above) and follow the processes for registering a vehicle. Once you have registered your vehicle and enrolled for payroll deduction, stop by the cashier area in Student Financial Services and pick up your Parking Permit. That’s all there is to it!
What if I don’t want to do payroll deduction?
If you opt to pay in full at Student Financial Services, you will still need to register your vehicle on self-service. Then you will need to print out the registration confirmation sheet and take it to the cashier area in Student Financial Services. The cashier will take your payment, mark your confirmation sheet as paid, and issue your permit.
What if I am a President’s Club member or have a UE license plate - does that make a difference?
President’s Club members are asked to register their vehicles on-line simply for the purposes of being able to provide timely information in the event of an emergency (ie. Someone has damaged your vehicle and we need to notify you). President’s Club stickers will be distributed via the Office of Development upon confirmation of the donation.
Where do I pick up my Permit?
Employee Parking Permits will be distributed at Student Financial Services. We strongly encourage all employees to apply and pick up their Parking Permits Monday, August 5 thru Wednesday, August 21, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to avoid the rush of the distribution of Student Parking Permits. |

Since 1987, Terry Collins has served as the Head Athletic Trainer for University of Evansville Athletics. He recently announced his retirement and his final day with the Purple Aces is set for August 12.
The University of Evansville will hold a reception honoring Collins on Wednesday, August 7 from 4-6 p.m. Accelerated Growth Capital, located at 508 Main Street, Suite A in Evansville will host the event.
“Terry’s leadership has led to Sports Medicine at UE being one of our greatest strengths. Terry has made a difference in the lives of so many. This includes thousands of student-athletes. He has impacted so many aspiring Certified Athletic Trainers who have gone on to have impactful careers,” UE Director of Athletics Dr. Ziggy Siegfried exclaimed. “On behalf of all Purple Aces, I want to thank Terry for his servant leadership and dedication for 37+ years.”
In culmination with the retirement celebration, UE has announced the creation of the Terry Collins Sports Medicine Excellence Fund. The fund will be a permanent way to honor Collins for his service to the university and will assist the Athletic Training staff in multiple ways including:

- Commitment to engaging in new methods for injury prevention and rehabilitation from injury
- Assurance of the quality of care provided to UE’s 250+ student-athletes for all aspects of sports medicine
Collins graduated from UE in 1982 where he was a pitcher for the Aces baseball team. After receiving his master’s degree from Indiana State University, Collins spent three seasons as the head trainer at Butler County Community College in El Dorado, Kansas.
He returned to his alma mater in 1987 and has been the head athletic trainer since that time. Collins directs the Athletic Training Staff in injury prevention, care of injuries and rehabilitation. Aside from that, he has worked as a Clinical Preceptor and instructor in the Athletic Training Education Program in UE’s Department of Exercise Science.
Close to 200 former athletic training students at UE have become Certified Athletic Trainers after working and studying with Collins and his staff. Accounting Student awarded PCAOB Scholarship
|
|
Congratulations to Alexis Fletcher, who was recently named a Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) Scholar. For the 2024-25 academic year, this a $15,000 scholarship for students choosing to pursue careers in accounting and investor protection.
The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 provides that funds from the collection of PCAOB monetary penalties must be used to fund a merit scholarship program for students in accredited accounting degree programs. Scholarship recipients are nominated by their respective institutions, which participate in the PCAOB Scholars Program based on their accreditation and the number of students they graduate with accounting degrees each year.
Since the program’s inception in 2011, the PCAOB has awarded $32.56 million in scholarships to 2,918 recipients. Thanks to an increase in the number of institutions eligible to participate in the program, as well as an expansion of efforts aimed at community college transfer students, this year’s group of 676 PCAOB Scholars is the largest in PCAOB history. The total amount awarded in 2024 is over $10 million.

Kate Hogan Retires July 31
|
|
On Wednesday, July 31st, the Division of Student Affairs bid a fond farewell to Kate Hogan on her last day before retirement. Kate has been supporting international students since May 2004 and has served most recently as Director of Cultural Engagement and International Services. Over the years, Kate created cultural awareness and supportive policies for our students from different faiths and cultures. She worked with faculty and staff to provide trainings about different country customs and communication practices so our campus could better support students' transition to UE. She has probably worked with over 1,500 international students over 20 years and she still keeps in touch with many international UE alumni. Kate requested a small retirement celebration but we wanted to make sure our campus community knew how proud we are of her contributions to UE and her student-centered approach when supporting students from all over the world. Kate is looking forward to spending more time with her husband, Michael, and their beautiful sheep dog, Martha, while they continue with their boating, kayaking, and outdoor adventures. Moving forward, any questions concerning international students can be directed to Stacie Miller, International Services Specialists (sm634@evansville.edu). |

Allison Enchelmayer to participate in 124th U.S. Women's Amateur
|
|
Allison Enchelmayer completed her collegiate career at the University of Evansville in the spring of 2024. Following a career that saw her help the Purple Aces achieve their first Missouri Valley Conference Championship and NCAA Regional appearances, Enchelmayer knew there was more to accomplish.
It did not take long for that to become a reality. In July, she was invited to the 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Southern Hills Country Club is the host course with the event running from August 5-11. Two rounds of stroke play open the week with the 156-player field cut down to 64. Match play begins at that time until the champion is crowned.
“Just when I thought I was done with competitive golf after finishing conference in April of 2024, I immediately signed up for the Evansville Women's City Tournament and US Women's Amateur Qualifier in Franklin,” Enchelmayer said. “I knew I would miss competing as soon as I was a "retired college athlete", and I could not have been more right.”
Enchelmayer had a strong effort at the Evansville Women’s City Tournament, posting rounds of 69 and 76 on her way to a runner-up finish. This helped her to find a dream that she did not know she had – making it to the U.S. Women’s Amateur. She became a middle school teacher in Evansville in January of 2024 and was preparing for ways to enjoy going without being a college athlete. This mindset was the perfect way to approach things. Aside from the opportunity to compete in the upcoming U.S. Women’s Amateur, she was recently named the girls golf coach at Harrison High School in Evansville.
“As a retired college athlete, I have been enjoying playing golf for myself and much more causally, which has given me a fire I didn't know I had,” she exclaimed. “I now get to compete with so much less pressure and am able to give myself grace. Now, as a "real adult" who doesn't compete as often, I have the honor of competing in one of the toughest amateur tournaments out there.”
“I could not be more thrilled to be a "normal person" in a field of such incredible athletes and show them I have what it takes to compete even after I finished my college career.”
Following the strong effort at the Evansville Women’s City Tournament, she competed at the qualifying site for the amateur in Franklin, Tenn. on July 18. Shooting a 1-under 69, she earned a 4th-place finish in a field of 54 participants. While the top three automatically qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur, her finish presented the opportunity to be an alternate.
Her performance at the qualifier was special for many reasons. While the clutch performance resulted in achieving her goal, the person next to her for the day made things even more special. Her father – Carl – caddied for her in an experience that she will cherish forever.
“I spent the qualifier enjoying a perfect golf day with my dad. It drizzled a little bit, the temperature was amazing, and I played awesome golf,” Enchelmayer recalled. “Having that looseness and my dad with me to just relax, it was really easy to just hit the next shot.”
After the round was complete, they awaited the final results as she missed the auto-qualifier spot by one but was guaranteed to be the first alternate. It was now time to wait and see what would happen. Enchelmayer was a counselor at a summer camp the next week. With cell and internet service being limited, she did her best to keep a close eye on everything. Finally, on Thursday the 25th, the news came.
“I didn’t think there was any way I was going to get the call to go, but then Thursday the 25th rolled around. I was around a group of 30 amazing kiddos and a few counselors when all of a sudden, I see the email and start crying with joy,” Enchelmayer exclaimed. “I got a spot to go to Oklahoma. These kids embraced me with the biggest hug I’ve ever had in my life, and it couldn’t have been a more special moment.”
Competition at the 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur opens on Monday, August 5. Enchelmayer and her father leave for Oklahoma on August 2. |

Kathryn Tyler taking part in Summer Undergraduate Research Training
|
|
University of Evansville women’s soccer player Kathryn Tyler has earned a prestigious opportunity that she has been participating in throughout the Summer of 2024.
Set to begin her junior campaign with the Purple Aces, Tyler was accepted into the Summer Undergraduate Research Training (SMART) program at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. The SMART Program is recognized throughout the nation as an excellent research program with unique educational components.
“One of my neuroscience teachers suggested that I apply for a summer research program and I wanted to find something closer to home in Texas,” Tyler said. “With this program, you are basically put in a lab that aligns with your interests. This experience allows you to work in lab while going through different seminars.”
Many educational and career development opportunities include: research seminar series specifically for SMART students encompassing a range of topics, graduate school application workshop series, one-on-one advising, tours of biomedical facilities, career professional development workshops, seminars, and panels, meet and greet with the MD/Ph.D. program director, social events sponsored by the graduate council and much more.
Her experience will be at Jiang Lab at the Baylor College of Medicine. This lab specializes in multiple facets of brain circuits and he goals of the project center around the type of research they perform.
“My main goal is to study brains with different types of diseases (cerebellar ataxia’s) to see how a specific genetic mutation changes how cells behave. Specifically I am looking at cells within the cerebellum to understand why this mutation causes some cells types to die and stop functioning correctly.”
Tyler has been working an average of 45 hours per week on research and program activities. The program provides frontier-level, biomedical summer research projects for undergraduates in a supportive environment with supplemental educational activities. The length of the program is set for nine weeks and has gained nationwide recognition from students, their advisers, and granting agencies as one of the most successful ever created due to the incomparable resources in the Texas Medical Center and people who truly believe in opening doors of opportunity to college students.
“I never thought the opportunity would come up to do this in undergrad,” she stated. “I only read about this type of research in textbooks.”
Baylor College of Medicine has multiple specializations and one that Tyler is especially interested in is their Space Medicine Program. With the school being located near NASA’s Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, the school has the unique chance to work within that industry. Growing up in Texas, Tyler had a lifelong interest in astronomy and looks to get a glimpse of what the school does within that program. She has an interest in studying how astronauts live in isolation and confined space and how to help them survive in those conditions. As a whole, the experience has been beneficial in giving her a new focus for life after college.
“This program has helped me develop a focus on my career path,” she added. “It made me realize how many opportunities there are in this field.” |

|
|
The University of Evansville has tabbed Dylan Anderson as its Head Coach of Track and Field/Cross Country.
“The search process for the new leader of our Track and Field/Cross Country was very important for our department, and I am confident we found the right person for the job in Dylan Anderson!” exclaimed Director of Athletics Dr. Ziggy Sigfried. “We were impressed with Anderson’s knowledge, experience as a head coach, attention to detail, and his reputation in having an unmatched work ethic. Please join me in welcoming Coach Anderson to UE!”
"I am honored for the opportunity to be the next leader for the University of Evansville Cross Country and Track and Field program,” says Anderson. “I would like to thank Dr. Siegfried for granting me this incredible opportunity. At every step of the process, I knew that I fit in here at UE and I can't wait to join this close-knit and hard-working athletic department and University."
"I would like to thank Mark Peeler and Erskine College for an incredible six year run that gave me so much room and grace to fail and grow as both a coach and a leader. My experiences there have uniquely prepared me for this role. I am ready to bring sustained excellence to a program that already has a rich history and tradition to build upon."
Anderson comes to the Purple Aces after spending the past six years at Division II Erskine College in Due West, S.C. While with the Fleet, Anderson started the track and field programs prior to the 2019-20 season while taking over the cross country programs. In his six years, Anderson coached nine Conference of the Carolinas track and field champions, a conference runner-up cross country team, and a national qualifier in the men’s mile.
In Erskine’s inaugural indoor track and field conference championship, Anderson coached 2 All-Conference performances in the 3000 meter and 5000 meter races. The following year, he coached an individual cross country Conference Champion, a conference champion in the 3000 meter and 5000 meter races during the indoor season, a conference champion in the 5000 meter race, an All-Conference performance in the 10,000 meter race and an All-Conference performance in the 3000 meter steeplechase during the outdoor season.
In the 2021-2022 season he coached one women's All-Conference performer in cross country and one All Conference performer in the outdoors men's steeplechase. In the 2022-2023 season Anderson coached one men's All Conference performer in cross country, and three All Conference performers in outdoor track and field (400 meter hurdles, 1500m and 3000m Steeplechase).
In his final season with the Fleet, Anderson coached the Male Track Athlete of the Year during the outdoor season who earned conference champions in the men’s 1500 meter, 500 meter, and the 10,000 meter. He also coached a men’s conference championship in the 3000-meter steeplechase and All-Conference performances in the men’s 500 meter,1500 meter, discus throw, and the women’s 800 meter and 1500 meter races during the outdoor season.
During the indoor season, Anderson coached a conference champion in the men’s mile race, and a conference champion in the women’s 800 meter race, all-conference performances in the men’s 3000 meter race and the distance medley relay along with all-region performances in the men’s 800 meter race and the distance medley relay.
Prior to his time at Erskine, Anderson was the Assistant Cross Country/Track and Field Coach at the College of Charleston. In his Division I stop, Anderson assisted with the cross country team while also being the event coach for the team’s sprint and hurdle runners. During that time, Anderson coached the 400-meter hurdle school record holder for the Cougars.
