* Employee Parking Permits Available Beginning August 12

2020-2021 employee parking permit registration is now available on-line!

Parking Permits are available on-line. No need to walk to the Office of Public Safety, fill out any paperwork or wait in line for your permit!

How do I register for a Parking Permit?

You can register for your Parking Permit through the UE Self-Service portal https://selfservice.evansville.edu using your UE username and password. The Parking Permits link is under “UE Forms.” Click on the menu icon (upper left hand corner) > UE Forms > Employee > Parking Permits. If you need assistance with accessing self-service, please contact OTS help desk at (812) 488-2077.

How much does a Parking Permit cost and how do I pay for it?

Parking Permits are $50 and can be paid through a quick and easy on-line payroll deduction of $10 installments over five pay periods or by cash/check at the cashier window in Student Financial Services, Olmsted 105.

What is the process for applying and paying for a Parking Permit?

Employees will go to the appropriate link on UE Self-Service (see instructions above) and follow the processes for registering a vehicle. Once you have registered your vehicle and enrolled for payroll deduction, stop by the cashier window in Student Financial Services and pick up your Parking Permit. That’s all there is to it!

What if I don’t want to do payroll deduction?

If you opt to pay cash/check at Student Accounts, you will still need to register your vehicle on self-service. Then you will need to print out the registration confirmation sheet and take it to the cashier window in Student Financial Services. The cashier will take your payment, mark your confirmation sheet as paid, and issue your permit. Be advised: If you choose to pay cash/check, the process will take a little longer to prepare the transactions.

What if I am a President’s Club member or have a UE license plate - does that make a difference?

President’s Club members are asked to register their vehicles on-line simply for the purposes of being able to provide timely information in the event of an emergency (ie. Someone has damaged your vehicle and we need to notify you). President’s Club stickers will be distributed via the Office of Development upon confirmation of the donation.

Discounts for UE license plates are only valid if the plate is active at the time of permit registration. There are no discounts or refunds once the permit is assigned. The discounted fee for employees who have UE license plates is $25.

Where do I pick up my Permit?

Parking Permits will be distributed at Student Financial Services. We strongly encourage all employees to apply and pick up their Parking Permits Wednesday, August 12 thru Friday, August 21, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. to avoid the rush of the distribution of Student Parking Permits.

If you have any questions concerning the application process, please contact the Office of Public Safety at 812-488-2051.

Info You Should Know

* Order Textbooks Online and Skip the Lines

Did you know you can order your textbooks online ahead of time and skip the long in-store lines? Simply visit the bookstore online at evansville.bncollege.com, click on the "Textbook" header, select your courses from the dropdown menus, and the website will pull a personalized list of Required and Recommended titles!

Now if you plan on renting any books, you will need to put in a credit card to secure the rental BUT you can pay a different way! Are you an Athlete? On VA benefits? Or just need to use your Book Loan before your Financial Aid is distributed? You can do that AND rent! When it comes time to check out, make sure you follow the directions, putting in your credit card AND selecting the secondary form of payment as "Student Account". When the order comes through, the appropriate account will be charged (nothing will be charged to the credit card unless you don't bring them back at the end of the semester).

Not interested in renting? Then you don't need to put in a credit card at all if you're using a different form of payment! Have a Barnes and Noble giftcard? You can use that with us too! The only form of payment we do not accept are checks.

Please allow up to 72 hours for web order processing during the first 2 weeks of class. You will receive 2 emails: one confirming the order, the other to let you know what it is ready to pickup/has been shipped. Please wait for that second email before coming in to pick up your order. If you have decided to have your books shipped, the tracking number will be on that email.

Of course, if you don't feel comfortable ordering online, you're more than welcome to bring your schedule into the store and we will pull your books at our back counter and you can pay at the register. Remember, if you're renting, you need to have a credit card to secure the rentals, even if you're using a different form of payment.

Congratulations

* Khan will Participate in the 2021 Annual Meeting of the World Finance Conference

Walayet A. Khan, Professor of Finance, will participate in the upcoming virtual 2021 annual World Finance Conference as the discussant, chair, and presenter. The papers to be presented are as follows:

1. Institutional Settings and Dividend Policy in Emerging Markets

Using a comprehensive time series and cross- sectional sample covering 25 emerging markets countries from 2001 through 2017, we investigate the effect of shareholder protection, creditor protection, and other country-level governance variables (e.g., control of corruption and rule of law) on the dividend policies of firms.

2. Impact of Global Residential Real Estate on Portfolio Diversification

Our focus is specifically on residential real estate, unlike previous literature where the emphasis is on REITs or commercial real estate. Using a sample from 1998 to 2008, we examine whether the inclusion of international real estate positively affected stock portfolio diversification. We analyzed whether US stocks plus international real estate portfolios dominated the portfolio of US stocks and international stocks.

3. Efficiency Performance and the Insolvency Risk for Takaful Insurance Firms: Evidence from the Gulf Cooperation Council Countries

We utilize the data envelopment analysis (DEA) and the distance-to-default concept (Z-score) to examine the efficiency performance and the insolvency risk (IR) of 54 Takaful firms (TFs- Islamic insurance firms) in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Given the increasing interest and growth in the Takaful industry, an in-depth analysis of efficiency performance and insolvency risk offers value to various stakeholders, including conventional and Takaful firms, policymakers, regulators, analysts, and investors

* Aces announce 11-game non-conference slate

The first 11 games of the Robyn Scherr-Wells era for the University of Evansville women's basketball team are out and features familiar foes and regional opponents.

"We are excited to kick off a new era of Evansville Women's Basketball," said Aces head women's basketball coach Robyn Scherr-Wells. I look forward to our team being able to experience playing in front of our fans at home for our first three games. It's a great opportunity for us to settle in and hopefully find some consistency and confidence early on. Overall, it's an exciting slate of games against a solid group of Midwest opponents. I feel we balanced our travel well and are putting our team in a position to find success and prepare for MVC play."

Featuring five home matches, including four inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse, the Aces will get the opportunity to showcase a new staff and playing style to the Evansville community early in its 2021-22 slate.

Evansville opens the season with a three-game homestand, its longest such homestand to open the season since playing four-straight games at home in the 1991-92 season. The 2021-22 campaign opens on November 9 when the Aces welcome Austin Peay to Meeks Family Fieldhouse. Five days later, the Aces play their second-straight game inside Meeks with a Sunday matchup with Oakland City.

The homestand comes to a close with Evansville's annual Education Day contest on November 17th at the Ford Center. For this season's Education Day game, the Aces will play host to Eastern Kentucky, renewing a series that has not been contested since the 2011-12 season. Those interested in attending Education Day can contact Amy Bonvillain at 812-488-2283 or ab872@evansville.edu for more information.

The first road contest of Evansville head women's basketball coach Robyn Scherr-Wells career in white and purple takes place in Charleston, Ill against Eastern Illinois on November 20. A trip to Fort Wayne to follow a 77-70 win last over Purdue Fort Wayne dots the schedule on November 24 before the Aces come back home.

Closing-out the month of November, Evansville plays host to Murray State inside Meeks for the penultimate home contest of non-conference play.

The Aces make return trips to a pair of teams they earned thrilling victories over a season ago. On December 4, Evansville travels to challenge Miami (Ohio), following a 66-60 win over the Redhawks in 2020-21. Evansville earned its fourth win of the season, 72-62, over Bellarmine, who the Aces head east to face on December 7 in Louisville, Ky.

The final home game before conference play comes on December 11, facing Morehead State, nearly four years to the day since the Aces and Eagles last met in Meeks, in an 82-75 win for the visitors during the 2017-18 season.

Two road contests just before the holidays finish the Aces non-conference slate, first with a trip to the Windy City to challenge Chicago State on December 19 before heading to Indianapolis to face Butler on December 22.

Evansville now offers digital, mobile ticketing that allows fans to buy tickets ahead of time. Single game tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for youth and seniors and can be purchased here. Fans can also purchase season passes for women's basketball for $65, available here. For November 17th's game against EKU at the Ford Center, season pass holders can claim their ticket at will call an hour before tip-off in the interior ticket lobby of the Ford Center.

Fans interested in women's basketball single game tickets and season passes can visit the Aces new ticketing page here.
