Notice of Enhanced Parking Enforcement Near Dumpsters
|
|
The University of Evansville is increasing parking enforcement immediately in areas that impact access to campus dumpsters. Vehicles that block dumpster access interfere with scheduled garbage pickup and may be subject to towing.
Enforcement procedures are as follows:
- If a vehicle is registered with the University, Public Safety will attempt to contact the owner and allow up to two hours for the vehicle to be moved.
- If the vehicle is not moved within two hours (even if Public Safety is unable to reach the owner), it will be towed at the owner’s expense.
- Vehicles not registered with the University may be towed immediately at the owner’s expense.
- Vehicles registered with the University that have more than two parking violations within a year may be towed without prior notification if parked in a dumpster access area.
Enhanced enforcement areas will be clearly identified with signage and painted curbs indicating no parking.
This action is necessary to ensure regular waste collection, prevent litter and pest issues, and maintain the overall appearance and cleanliness of campus.
Thank you for your cooperation and attention to this matter.

Deal Walks Off Hoosiers In Extra-Innings Thriller
|
|
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville baseball team picked up their second walk-off win in the last four games on Tuesday night, as freshman Tate Deal (Arvada, Colo./Arvada West) delivered a pinch-hit single in the 11th inning to defeat the Indiana Hoosiers, 5-4, in front of the largest regular season crowd in German American Bank Field history.
Facing a 4-0 deficit after four innings, the Aces scored one run in the fifth before scoring three times on three doubles in the seventh to tie the game at 4. The game remained deadlocked until the 11th, when Deal delivered the game-winning hit.
The Aces' bullpen was excellent in the win, shutting out the Hoosiers over the final seven innings to allow the offense to mount a comeback. Chris McCormack (Naperville, Ill./Iowa Central CC) picked up the win with two scoreless innings in relief, while Jackson Yarberry got the loss for Indiana. HOW IT HAPPENED Indiana jumped on top early, using a 2-run home run to take a lead in the first inning.
Parker MacCauley (Paducah, Ky./Tennessee Tech) provided a zero in the top of the second before Conner Vander Luitgaren (Bargersville, Ind./Center Grove) provided a scoreless frame in the third. However, Indiana added to their lead in the fourth, using an RBI single and a double to make it 4-0. Jack Willhite (Georgetown, Ky./Scott County) took over on the mound in the fifth and kept the score at 4-0 before Evansville cut into the deficit in the home half of the inning, with Spike Magill (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista) driving in a run with a two-out single.
Willhite put up another scoreless inning in the sixth before giving way to RJ James in the seventh (Toronto, Ontario/Sir John A MacDonald), who struck out two while putting up a zero.
Evansville mounted a rally in the bottom of the seventh, starting with a leadoff HBP by Magill. Following a fielder's choice, Reid Haire (Hudson, N.C./Charlotte) drilled a ground rule double to left center field to put runners on second and third. In the next at-bat, Drew McConnell (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs) delivered a ground rule double of his own to left center, driving in both runners to make it 4-3. After a strikeout, Ryan Seddon (Joliet, Ill./St. Laurence) provided an at-bat for the ages, fouling off seven pitches before lofting a double to shallow right center on the 12th pitch of the at-bat to drive in McConnell.
With the game now tied at four, Kellen Roberts (Monroe, Mich./Monroe) emerged from the bullpen and struck out two, including a 97 MPH fastball on the outside corner to end the inning. Roberts was excellent again in the ninth, stranding a runner at second to keep the game tied. Looking to walk it off, the Aces put two men on in the ninth, but were unable to score as the game went to extra innings.
Indiana looked like they might break through in the 10th, loading the bases with one out. However, McCormack induced a soft line drive up the middle, where Simon Schulz (Evansville, Ind./Memorial) scooped the ball up on a hop, stepped on second base, and fired to first to beat the Hoosier baserunner by a step and complete the double play.
In the 11th, McCormack posted another zero, striking out two, to give the Aces another chance to walk it off.
With the top of the order up for the Aces, Magill began the inning with an HBP before Haire drilled a single up the middle to put two on with one out. After a fielder's choice advanced Magill to third, Deal stepped up to the plate to pinch hit. In only his seventh plate appearance of the season, Deal ripped a ground ball up the middle and into center field to drive in Magill and win it for the Aces.
UP NEXT Evansville hits the road this week to take on Bradley in Peoria for a three-game set. |

Harvard University Professor Receives the Inaugural UE Professor Azarian's Prize for Mathematical Reviews
|
|
The Mohammad K. Azarian Prize for Mathematical Reviews Reviewers, named after Dr. Mohammad K. Azarian, professor of mathematics at the University of Evansville (UE), was presented for the first time at the 2026 Joint Mathematics Meetings in Washington, D.C., honoring outstanding contributions to peer review in mathematics.
The award, which carries a $5,000 prize, recognizes reviewers whose work demonstrates technical insight, clarity, and service to the global mathematical community.
The inaugural recipient of the Azarian Prize is Dr. Arnav Tripathy, the Benjamin Peirce assistant professor of mathematics at Harvard University, who earned his PhD from Stanford University in 2016. The 2026 prize was awarded to an early-career research mathematician (predoctoral through 10 years post-PhD). Subsequent prizes will honor a contributor for lifetime achievement and a contributor from a nation and institution served by the MathSciNet for Developing Countries program.
The Azarian Prize reflects the remarkable legacy of Dr. Azarian, a lifetime member of the American Mathematical Society (AMS). He is a reviewer for the AMS's Mathematical Reviews (MathSciNet) and the European Mathematical Society's zbMATH Open. Professor Azarian served four years as a Discipline Peer Reviewer for the Fulbright Scholar Program (2015-2018) sponsored by the United States Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. He served on the AMS Committee on the Human Rights of Mathematicians (2021-2023), and in 2023, he was the chair of the committee and was the AMS Representative on the American Association for the Advancement of Science Human Rights Coalition.
"His decades of tireless service as an educator, researcher, reviewer, advisor, and editor are truly inspirational," said Doug Allen, AMS associate vice president for development.
"I am grateful to recognize the outstanding reviewers whose work sustains the value of Mathematical Reviews," said Dr. Azarian.
This recognition continues Dr. Azarian's decades-long commitment to scholarship, mentorship, and service at the University of Evansville and beyond. In April 2025, UE announced that Dr. Azarian made history as the first Muslim and the first Iranian American mathematician to have two prestigious mathematics awards named in his honor by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) and the Mathematical Association of America (MAA).
The University of Evansville congratulates Dr. Azarian on his enduring contributions to the global mathematical community. For more information about Professor Azarian's scholarly work, visit faculty.evansville.edu/ma3. |

University of Evansville, Vincennes University Partner to Create Direct Entry Pathways for Health Professions Students
|
|
The University of Evansville (UE) and Vincennes University (VU) have formalized a new partnership designed to create streamlined, direct-entry pathways for students pursuing careers in athletic training and physical therapy.
Through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), students enrolled in VU's Bachelor of Science in Health Care Services Administration with a Pre-Doctor of Physical Therapy/Master's of Athletic Training concentration will have the opportunity to transition directly into UE's graduate programs, including the Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT). The agreement establishes a clear, structured pathway for qualified students, providing early assurance for admission into competitive graduate programs.
Eligible students may apply for direct entry into UE's MSAT program after their sophomore year by maintaining a minimum 3.50 GPA, completing an interview, and securing a faculty recommendation, with up to five students admitted annually. Students may also pursue direct entry into UE's DPT program, where up to three students per year are selected through a competitive process. In both pathways, students must maintain academic standards to retain their direct entry status.
"At the heart of this partnership is student opportunity," said Dr. Andy Lampkins, Dean of the College of Education and Health Sciences. "We are creating a direct, supportive pathway that allows students to stay focused on their goals while preparing for success in high-demand healthcare fields."
The agreement also includes coordinated academic advising between the two institutions to ensure students complete prerequisite coursework and remain on track for success. Faculty and administrators from both universities will work together to monitor progress and support a seamless transition from undergraduate to graduate study.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment by UE and VU to expand access to high-demand healthcare careers and strengthen the pipeline of highly trained professionals in athletic training and physical therapy. |

UE Club Assists Local Organizations on Southside Transformation Initiative
|
|
The Enterprise Business & Innovation Club (EBIC) at the University of Evansville (UE) is creating opportunities for students to engage directly with real-world business challenges while developing leadership and professional skills.
EBIC is designed to promote a comprehensive understanding of modern business practices through workshops, guest speakers, networking opportunities, and project-based learning. The organization fosters a collaborative environment where students gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge that prepares them for their careers.
Currently, EBIC members are partnering with Community One and the Southwest Indiana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on Evansville's Southside Transformation project. This research initiative aims to generate actionable insights that support local businesses and guide future economic development efforts. The study focuses on identifying the factors that contribute to small business sustainability and success, examining operational practices, financial strategies, and broader environmental influences within the city's South Side community.
"EBIC empowers students to directly partner with Evansville's industry and community leaders, building meaningful connections and gaining a deeper understanding of how business works in practice," said Dr. Yolanda Obaze, Associate Dean of the Schroeder Family School of Business Administration. "Through this work, students apply their skills to create tangible value and drive positive, communitycentered solutions that support economic growth across the Evansville community."
In addition to research initiatives, EBIC continues to bring industry professionals to campus. The organization recently hosted an interactive entrepreneurship and marketing workshop featuring Sener Kokrusuz, CEO of the American 7s Football League (A7FL). During the session, Kokrusuz shared his background in technology and entrepreneurship, highlighting how he built a nationwide league. Students analyzed the league's digital presence from a Gen Z perspective and explored potential remote internship opportunities. |
