This morning, Facilities and Public Safety received several calls and work orders reporting a gas- or electrical-type odor in multiple campus buildings.
After investigation, there is no indication that the odor is originating from any University of Evansville facility. Evansville and Vanderburgh County Central Dispatch have also received similar reports across the community, and the Evansville Fire Department currently has crews from five stations actively investigating.
At this time, officials believe the odor is consistent with the source identified in yesterday’s reports, potentially natural gas burning fumes or a cleaning-related agent associated with off-campus business operations in the area. Air quality control teams are also involved in the investigation.
There is no immediate threat to campus, and we will continue to share updates as additional information becomes available from local authorities. |
