Tomorrow marks the official start of production for How the Story Gets Told: Documenting Journey to Justice— a full-length documentary capturing the power, emotion, and truth behind the Journey to Justice civil rights educational tour. Over the next week, our cameras will follow high school and college students, educators, and community members as they engage directly with the history and living legacy of the Civil Rights Movement across the American South.

Directed and produced by Tommy J. Housman and co-produced by Dr. Valerie A. Stein and Alijah Roberson, this film aims to preserve and elevate the voices, memories, and historical realities that continue to shape our society.

🎥 We need your help

We are still raising funds to support student sponsorships, post-production, and equipment maintenance. Every donation makes a difference in helping us complete this important work and expand experiential learning opportunities through UE Student Media.

🙏 Thank you to everyone who has already supported this project — including Our Times Newspaper, Memorial CDC, and the University of Evansville’s ARSAF-ART grant — your belief in this vision makes this possible.
