* Financial Aid Eligibility and Academic Schedule Changes

Financial Aid Eligibility and Academic Schedule Changes: Importance of Finalizing Schedule Changes by Tuesday, August 28

It is important to understand the connection between your academic activity and financial aid eligibility. Please see a counselor in the Office of Financial Aid if you have questions.

TUESDAY,  AUGUST 28 - This is the last day to add a class for the fall semester.  It is also the last day to drop a class without a ‘W’ grade appearing on your transcript.  If you are CERTAIN that you intend to drop a course, while still remaining in at least 12 new credits (full-time), it is important to complete the process on or before Tuesday, August 28.

The number of credit hours for which you are enrolled as of Wednesday, Aug. 29 will be your official "attempted" credits used in May 2013 in the calculation for determining if you meet the federal, state and University standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) for aid renewal. If you drop a course after Tuesday, August 28 a “W” will appear on your transcript, and will count as “attempted” but not “earned.”

View the full University of Evansville policy for Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid Renewal.

DROPPING BELOW FULL-TIME ENROLLMENT BEFORE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 – Full-time students who are considering dropping below full-time enrollment (12 credits) or part-time students who reduce their course load before Thursday, September 20 could have their charges and financial aid adjusted dramatically. Before September 20, please consult with a financial aid counselor prior to dropping courses.  After September 20, charges and aid remain fixed, even if enrollment is less than full-time.

REPEATED COURSES – If your current schedule includes repeated courses which you have already passed, it is especially important to speak with a financial aid counselor in advance of changing your schedule.  New federal regulations may govern your aid eligibility in a more restrictive way.
