The Institute for Global Enterprise in Indiana at the University of Evansville invites the campus to the Victory Theatre this evening to hear former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez.
Gutierrez, who served as Secretary of Commerce under President George W. Bush and is also the former CEO and chairman of the board at the Kellogg Company, will speak at 7:00 p.m. The event is part of the Institute’s International Speaker Series, whose previous speakers include author Khaled Hosseini, columnist Thomas Friedman, and former President of Mexico Vicente Fox.
Like those events, Gutierrez’s talk is free and open to the public. The title of his talk – “Maintaining America’s Competitive Advantage” – is centered around America’s uniquely open business environment. Gutierrez will discusses America's undeniable advantages-from intellectual property rights, to the world's best university system, to our history of embracing immigration-and he outlines the specific policies that will ensure that these advantages continue into the future.
