* UE Magazine Survey

Please take a few minutes to complete a short online survey about UE Magazine. It is the goal of the magazine staff to present stories and features that interest a broad audience of alumni, donors, and friends of UE. The results of the survey will be an important gauge in how we can make the magazine better. Please go to www.surveymonkey.com/s/uemagazine2012.

Your responses will be confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of UE. It won’t take long and we’ll draw names for some UE prizes from those who have responded by July 31. Drop by out Facebook page on or about August 1 to find out who won.

Info You Should Know

* ACES Flexible Spending Account - Annual Election Limit Increased to $5000

The ACES  health care flexible spending account limit was reduced from $5000 to $2500 for 2012-13 to comply with regulations in President Obama's 2010 Federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.  After our plan year began on June 1, the University received guidance that the implementation of this particular mandate in the healthcare law has been delayed.  Therefore, the University of Evansville is providing an opportunity for benefit-eligible employees to:
•         Change your 2012-13 ACES flex healthcare election amount up to a maximum of $5000 (if you are already a participant).
•         Enroll in the ACES flex healthcare plan for 2012-13 (if you are not already a participant).

If you do not wish to make any changes (to your annual election or enrollment status), you do NOT need to do anything.  If you want to make a change, please complete  an election form (available in the Office of Human Resources) and return it to Human Resources no later than Thursday, August 9. Changes to flex deductions will begin on the August 17 bi-weekly payroll and will continue through May 31, 2013.  No changes can be made until next year for the ACES dependent care flexible accounts.

Please contact the Office of Human Resources at ext. 2943 with any questions.

* Fitness Center Will Be Closed July 30-Aug. 3

The Fitness Center will be closed next week (July 30–Aug. 3) so the gym floors can be refinished.  Summer hours will resume on Monday, Aug. 6 at 8 a.m.

Thank You

* UE Farmers Market Earns $500 for Tri-State Food Bank

Bill Hemminger, chair of the Department of English, wants to thank the UE Community for supporting the farmers' market this season.

"Next week, I will present a check for $500 to Tri-State Food Bank from UE Gardeners," said Hemminger.  "As you might imagine, this year has been particularly lean for the Food Bank system; Tri-State provides more than seven million pounds of food annually to people in its 33-county area, and the costs of purchasing and distributing food have increased fairly dramatically."

He added that the garden is still producing tomatoes, basil, and kale; sweet potatoes should be available in late September.  He will announce further sales of produce but on an ad hoc basis.
