* Attention Faculty and Staff: Move In Day Greeters Needed!

We are just a few weeks away from welcoming a new class of students to UE. Your help on this day to provide a welcoming environment for our new students is critical. As in years past, we are looking for faculty and staff volunteers to assist with helping as greeters during our move-In process. Our student volunteers who signed up in the spring will help move students into their rooms while faculty and staff volunteers will serve as greeters to students and their families and assist in coordinating and communicating the move-in process. Training will be provided and no previous experience is necessary.

Move-in Day is Saturday, August 18. There are three two-hour shifts to choose from. Please use the link provided to list yourself in a preferred timeslot. You will receive a confirmation email with more details after you register. For any questions please contact Geoff Edwards at ge21@evansville.edu

* Engagement Announcement

Cara Fabrocini, assistant director of Student Engagement, became engaged on Saturday, July 14, to Scott Wood, coordinator of Intramural and Recreation Sports at the University of Southern Indiana.  Scott proposed at Audubon State Park (where the two first met) in the rain.  They are thrilled to start planning a fall 2013 wedding.

* William Baer

The Plagiarist, a play by Professor of Creative Writing William Baer, was recently awarded second place in the CAST Theatrical Players Festival in Beaumont, California.  The forty-minute play, based on one of Baer's published short stories, was one of six finalists chosen in the CAST National One-Act Playwriting Competition, and all six plays were given staged readings during the festival which took place June 22-24.

* UE-Connected Internet TV Series "The Book of Dallas"

The Book of Dallas, a 10-episode Internet television series written and produced by UE Director of Digital Media Joe Atkinson, inked an international distribution deal with KoldCast TV last week. KoldCast will broadcast the 10-episode series across all of its digital media platforms, including Web television network koldcast.tv; set-top boxes like Roku, Boxee, and Flingo TV; connected/smart TVs; mobile devices; and other third-party platforms. The series is scheduled to debut on KoldCast on Monday, September 17; a preview is available on the network now.

Along with Atkinson - who wrote and produced all 10 episodes and directed episodes 3, 8, and 10 - several UE students and alumni also worked on The Book of Dallas. Toby Onwumere '12, Beth Speer '97, and Abigail Werling M'09 were among the UE alums with speaking roles in the series, while AcesTV Mandy Ruoff Executive Producer Michael Armanno assisted with lighting, camerawork, and sound, and continues to be heavily involved in several post-production elements. Sophomore Nik Fahrer and senior Taylor Paquette also worked as crew members on multiple episodes.
