* UE Garden Farmers Market

Bill Hemminger, chair of the English Department, has announced that the UE garden (located behind the Old Armory) has been very productive this summer.

"We have zucchini, green beans, beets, kale, and parsley aplenty right now," says Hemminger "and we would like to invite you to come to the lobby of Ridgway University Center at noon on Wednesday for a (very inexpensive) farmers’ market. All proceeds will go to Tri-State Food Bank and the food ought to go to your tables.  Please come - and bring a friend along—as you support this green effort on the part of members of the University family."

* Healthy Lifestyle Challenge Set for June 25-August 19

The summer healthy lifestyle challenge for employees and spouses begins June 25. This eight week event offers a different healthy behavior to practice each week. Based on points accumulated, the top four individuals will each receive a $50 gift card.  HRA insured will receive credit for their HRA account.  Complete rules can be found in Acelink>Human Resources>Wellness>Healthy Lifestyle Challenge.  Register at the Health Screening on June 25 or June 26.  This program is free to any UE employee or spouse.

* Annual Health Screenings

The annual Employee Health Screening will be held June 25, 12:30 – 6 p.m., and June 26, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., in Ridgway University Center.  Any University employee or spouse may attend.  Those insured through the HRA program will receive credit for their HRA account by attending.

The screenings include cholesterol and blood sugar testing; blood pressure testing; height, weight, and body mass index calculations;  and a health risk appraisal questionnaire.  A 2 hour fast is recommended.

HRA participants or anyone insured by Welborn Health Plans can participate without cost; others will be charged $20.

Sign-up for the summer Healthy Lifestyle Challenge will also be in Ridgway June 25 and 26.  If you have questions, contact the employee wellness nurse, Carolyn Hendrickson hendricksonc@welbornhealthplans.com or stop by the nurse’s table in Krannert lobby on Monday, June 18, 1 – 3 p.m.
