University of Evansville outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski has been selected as a 2012 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American by Collegiate Baseball newspaper, announced Wednesday.
Kaczmarski becomes the 10th player in Aces history to earn Freshmen All-America honors, with the most recent being teammate Eric Stamets in 2010.
Kaczmarski, a native of Cary, Ill., was named second team All-Missouri Valley Conference this spring, leading the squad with a .328 batting average, 17 runs, and a .493 slugging percentage in MVC games. The rookie also ranked third on the team with a .303 season average and squad-best .410 on-base percentage. Kaczmarski co-ranked third in the Valley and co-led the Aces with five triples, while also belting 13 doubles, one home run and had 33 runs batted in.
Starting 57 games in centerfield, Kaczmarski ended his freshman campaign with 152 putouts, five assists, and a perfect fielding percentage.
Kaczmarski will look to continue his stellar play this summer, competing for the Waterloo Bucks in the Northwoods League alongside Evansville teammate Jason Hockemeyer.
