The UE community is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Professor Emeritus Paul Jensen. Jensen, who graduated from Evansville College in 1965, leaves behind a remarkable legacy as a student athlete for the Purple Aces. His career was filled with notable achievements and contributions.

During the 1964 season, he was the Indiana Collegiate Conference (ICC) champion in two events. He set a new conference record in the 200-yard butterfly and was a member of the record-setting 400-yard Medley Relay. In the 1965 season, Jensen repeated as a double winner at the ICC championships again setting new records in both the 200-yard butterfly and as a member of the 400-yard Medley Relay as the Aces won their first conference championship.

Jensen returned to his alma mater in 1982 to serve as a full-time professor. In 1985, he was selected to serve as Chair of the Department of Human Kinetics and Sports Studies (HKSS). He served in that capacity for two decades until 2005. During his tenure as Chair, the number of students majoring in the HKSS department rose from 28 to 320.

In May of 2012 at the age of 68, Professor Jensen retired and earned Emeritus status voted on by his fellow faculty members.

Please keep Jensen’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
