Melissa Morehead Moore has been named the new Programming Coordinator of the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion within the Talent & Community division.

Melissa has been a lifelong public servant and has spent her career empowering and encouraging all she has had contact with throughout the years. After graduating from Benjamin Bosse High School in Evansville, she started her journey with the United States Navy (active duty). Upon receiving an honorable discharge after nearly 10 years of service, her Hoosier roots and family ties called her back home to Evansville in 2000. Since her return, her mission has been to empower all she encounters, encourage all she meets, and be highly effective with the assignments in and around the community.

She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership from the University of Evansville. She is also a graduate of Leadership Evansville (now known as Leadership Everyone). Melissa is also a Hoosier Women Forward, Class 4 2021-2022 graduate, where she is currently the alumni member representative. She is also a 2017-2018 recipient of the University of Evansville Office of Diversity Initiatives UEAAA Mentor of the Year Award. She is the recipient (November 2021) of the highest and most prestigious award from the City of Evansville, the Sadelle Berger Award from the Mayor’s Diversity Council, and a past nominee for the Celebration of Leadership of Evansville.

Melissa currently serves as an EVSC School Board Trustee, Secretary for the Vanderburgh County Democratic Party, Chairwoman of Commissioner with the Social Status of African American Males, and is also active in a grassroots organization, And How Are the Children.
