The Center for Career Development will host an open house reception to celebrate the retirement of Donna Schmitt, Senior Administrative Assistant in the Center for Career Development. Please join us as we share good wishes and thank her for her 13 ½ years of dedication and service to the University. The reception will be held on July 13, 2021 from 3:00-4:30 PM in the Student Life area of Ridgway University Center.

The office of Alumni and Engagement is in the process of coordinating campus events for Family Weekend, September 17-19, 2021.

Our office will have the headquarters set up in Ridgway Friday afternoon and Saturday morning for families to pick up the schedule of events, any tickets that were purchased for events (theatre, athletic, etc), and some swag. We can list (and take any reservations and payment) for events that you might want to host on the schedule of events and throughout our event platform, www.uealumnionline.com.

University of Evansville Residency Programs faculty & graduates recently performed testing at the inaugural MLB Combine in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The team was led by Dr. Phil Plisky ’98, Associate Professor of Physical Therapy & Director of Residency Programs. The team included Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy and Sports Residency Program Director Dr. Kyle Matsel ’11, Dr. Jenna Gourlay of the RPI & University of Evansville & Orthopedic Residency Program (Sports Residency ’14), Dr. Alan Tomczykowski (Sports Residency ’09) Dr. Nathan Denning (Sports Residency '17), Dr. Logan Wager (Sports Residency '18) and Dr. Allison Weaver (UE '15, Sports Residency '16).

The screening involves specific developed and researched by Drs. Plisky and Kyle Kiesel, Professor Emeritus of Physical Therapy. This performance testing model is widely used variety of high school, college, and professional sports teams as well as the US Military.

Earlier this year, UE announced the creation of the UE Music Conservatory to better serve students and the local community. Beginning this fall, the Conservatory will expand its offerings to provide musical opportunities and lifelong learning for all ages through the new Community Conservatory. Lessons and classes will begin in August.

Community Conservatory membership will allow students to take private instrument or voice lessons from UE music faculty. Lessons are available to all ages and abilities. In addition to one-on-one lessons, students will have opportunities for masterclasses and coaching, recitals with a provided pianist, reduced class rates, a discount toward the UE Summer Music Camp, and a guaranteed talent-based scholarship toward a UE music degree.

A variety of classes will also be available to the community, accommodating many age groups and skill levels. Course offerings will include chamber music, group piano, audition preparation, drumming, ensembles, and more. Registration for classes is now open.

UE will continue to offer existing services through the Conservatory, including community ensembles such as UE Choral Society, UE Symphony Orchestra, and the UE Community Band. Rehearsals are held on a weekly basis and performances are presented each semester. The long-running Suzuki Program will also continue as part of the Community Conservatory. Founded in 1972, the program teaches more than 100 students aged 4-17 in the tri-state region.

The Aces Assist Club is set to hold its annual Aces Golf Scramble on Monday, August 30, 2021 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Newburgh, Indiana.

Space is limited due to COVID restrictions and those interested in participating are encouraged to make their arrangements early. Registration is $600 for a foursome and $150 for individual players. Champions Level members of the Aces Assist Club receive one complimentary individual entry while All-American Level members get half off of a single entry.

On the day of the scramble, registration opens at 11 a.m. at Rolling Hills Country Club with lunch being served at the same time inside the clubhouse. A shotgun start will commence the tournament at 12 p.m. Contest, individual and team awards will be given out at the clubhouse after the final group completes their round.

The WGCA All-American Scholars were announced today with a total of 1,432 women’s collegiate golfers earning the prestigious honor.  Included in the total were six golfers from the University of Evansville’s Missouri Valley Conference Championship team.

Earning the award were senior Sophia Rohleder, juniors Alyssa McMinn and Caitlin O’Donnell, sophomore Allison Enchelmayer along with freshmen Carly Frazier and Mallory Russell.

“I could not be more proud to have six All-American Scholars,” UE head golf coach John Andrews exclaimed.  “What a great honor for our women’s golf program.”

Evansville was one of less than 30 programs across all NCAA divisions to have six student-athletes earn the recognition.  This marks the third such honor for Sophia Rohleder and Alyssa McMinn.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics.  The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

The University of Evansville women's basketball program has announced the date and opponent for its annual Education Day game, slated for 11 AM on Wednesday, November 17 at the Ford Center against Eastern Kentucky.

Kindergarten through sixth grade students, teachers, and chaperones are invited to come cheer on the Aces with the first 5,000 registrants guaranteed to receive lower level seating for just $2. Parents wishing to attend the game with their child and receive the discounted $2 tickets will need to submit their ticket request in conjunction with each classes order. Tickets on game day will increase to $5, no exceptions.

More information on how to register your class and purchase tickets will be made available soon.

Doors will open at 9:30 a.m. on game day with educational programming starting at 10 a.m. and tip-off at 11 a.m. (the game will last approximately 2 hours). Transportation will not be provided, however, bus parking will be made available near the Ford Center.

Students, teachers, and chaperones will be permitted to bring a sack lunch to the game, while Ford Center concession stands will be open as well.

The Aces look to break the all-time women's basketball single game attendance record at Evansville of 4,581, set in 2016, during an Education Day contest against Oakland City. Evansville is set for an exciting season in the first year under direction of head coach Robyn Scherr-Wells as the Aces return more than 80% of their scoring, including the top three scorers, while adding six newcomers that represent four different nations.
