Upcoming Events

* UE Welcomes EVSC Health Camp and Deaconess Health Science Institute

The College of Education and Health Sciences is hosting 70 students and staff members from the Evansville Vanderburgh Schools and surrounding areas on Wednesday, June 12th. The Health Camp gives middle school students a chance to explore health care careers and future areas of study in health sciences.

UE is also hosting Deaconess Health Science Institute, a program that provides juniors and seniors from area high schools first hand experience in medical careers. The students will spend the day on UE campus, attending interactive sessions on "Team Healthcare: Treating Traumatic Injuries" with nursing, physical therapy, physician assistant, athletic training, neuroscience, and lab experiments with chemistry and biology.

They will also enjoy lunch on campus and meet with admissions, pre-professional advisors and current students.

* On Campus Health Screenings 2019-2020

Sign up for your 2019-2020 Health Screening!! Sign-up's for this event are posted on AceLink. Screenings will be held in Eykamp Room 252 on June 10th-13th from 7:00-11:00 AM each day. An 8-12 hour fast is required to complete your screening. Black coffee and water are permitted during the fasting period. Please take maintenance medication as prescribed. Earn HRA credits and avoid higher medical insurance premiums.

Info You Should Know

* Jezreel Expedition Study Season Updates

UE's Jezreel Expedition in Israel has wrapped up its 2019 study season. Six years of excavation (2013-2018) produced some ten tons of ground stone artifacts, flint artifacts, pottery, animal bones, and much more, and Jezreel students and staff members convened at Kibbutz Yizra'el on May 16th to continue analyzing this material for publication. Archaeology majors Maddi Steinsultz and Autumn Koehling spent three weeks sorting, washing, and labeling artifacts and providing invaluable assistance to Jezreel co-directors Jennie Ebeling (UE) and Norma Franklin (University of Haifa), field director Ian Cipin (University of Haifa), and registrar Ann Stehney (Lafayette College) at Kibbutz Yizra'el, adjacent to the site. Although we missed all of our colleagues and friends who have participated in fieldwork in the past, we are very pleased with the progress we made toward the publication of our project this season.

* Distribution Services/Copy Services Phase II Announcement

Phase II has begun, and the two production copiers have been relocated to two campus locations and are being set up for departmental staff access. Please review the following information which includes Phased Copier Transitions/Changes Progress, Copy Options (reminder) , Copy Rates, Training for Production Copiers, and Copy Guidelines (Revised).

Phased Copier Transitions/Changes

Phase I:  Closure of Copy Services Effective June 1, 2019. (Completed) 
Following the closure of CS, anyone with copy requests, will be responsible for handling their copy requirements and arrangements themselves (see Copy Options below).

Phase II: Relocation of (2) Production Copiers (In progress) 
CS equipment preparation/removal/relocation began on Friday afternoon, May 31. This transition is expected to take a few days to complete. The Koch 2nd floor satellite copier will be taken off-line upon the installation of the Color Production Copier (C70).

Phase III: Reduction of Satellite Copier Fleet

Phase III will include the reduction of the satellite copier fleet in July at the conclusion of current leases. The following satellite copiers will be reduced/removed with suggested alternate satellite copier locations as indicated below:

• Black/White copy rates remain the same as FY18-19 rates and includes 8.5” x 11” white copy paper and staples.
• Color copy will be available upon the installation of the Koch production copier located on the 2nd floor.

Training for Production Copiers
Following production copier relocations, copier training will be scheduled for those interested in learning more about using the production equipment.  Watch for training announcements via AceNotes and the Copy Services website on AceLink. Those interested in training may email

Copy Options (REMINDER!) 
In lieu of the traditional Copy Services Request, individuals can now use their authorized access copy code on any campus copier.

Option 1:  Utilize a Satellite Copier
While a reduction in the number of satellite copiers is occurring, satellite and production copiers are available in the following locations on campus:

Anyone with an authorized access copy code may utilize these machines.

Option 2:  Utilize a Relocated Production Copier
Relocated Production copiers and equipment will be available using access codes to meet a variety of copy needs beyond routine copy job requirements (large and small quantities, manuals, posters, binding, etc.). 

Additional equipment includes a shrink wrapper, cutter, document shaker, and spiral binder that will also be in OH 231 with the black/white production copier.

Option 3: Utilize a Local Vendor
Local vendors such as Office Depot Print/Copy Shop may be used for copy jobs that do not require Office of Content Design or Marketing approval. For example, large student project posters.

Note: The Office of Marketing & Communications will continue to manage collateral material utilizing UE logos and brand marks. They will also continue to manage the printing of brochures, flyers, programs, certificates, invitations, business cards, and stationery. Please complete the required marketing request and UE Requisition for Purchase order as usual for these jobs.

Copy Guidelines – (Effective June 1, 2019) REVISED 6/10/19
1. All copiers including the relocated production copiers will continue to operate using copy access codes.

2. Copy Service Request Forms and the “\\uefile\uecommon\copy services drop folder” (unsecure) or “\\uefile\uecommon\CS1” (secure) sites will be no longer be used or necessary.

3. Departments will have access to remaining CS production supplies (combs, colored paper, staples, etc.) while remaining CS supplies last at no cost.  Remaining CS supplies will be in OH 231.The shrink wrapper will be in the UE Bookstore. for access, contact the UE Bookstore

4. Once the remaining CS supplies are gone, Departments are responsible for purchasing and maintaining their departmental copy supplies, such as copy paper, spiral combs, etc. needed to complete a copy job.

6. The Office of Marketing & Communications will continue to monitor the use of the UE Brand and Logo. (No Change) Brand Guidelines may be viewed online.

7. The Library will continue to review documents and assist with proper copyright use. (No Change)

8. The Office of Content Design will handle requests for UE certificates and invitations, as indicated in number 4 above. (No Change)

* Front Oval Limited Parking

Annual blowing of mulch into large campus beds will take place on Thursday and Friday, June 13-14. Areas to be blown are Olmsted Hall and the Sesquicentennial Oval. Some parking may be restricted during this process.

* Free Additional Prescription Program for UE Employees and Dependents Covered by Meritain

As we announced during insurance open enrollment, the University of Evansville has partnered with pharmacy benefits manager CRX International to offer more than 300 of the most commonly prescribed brand-name drugs to employees and dependents covered by Meritain Health Insurance. These are maintenance medicines for long-term conditions such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, heartburn, arthritis, and diabetes. CRX is a service that connects you with an Australian, British, or Canadian licensed pharmacy that can dispense, at the lowest available price, the same brand-name medicine currently prescribed by your doctor, and arrange for its delivery directly to you. While participation in this program is voluntary, the University is encouraging participation by waiving co-pays for these prescriptions, resulting in significant savings for those employees and dependents who take these drugs.

The Office of Human Resources is pleased to share additional details about our partnership with CRX, which is branded as the “UofE Rx” program and will be administered by CanaRX. UofE Rx is a voluntary program and does not replace your current prescription benefit plans through Meritain Health/CVS Caremark and the Employee Medical Clinic.

You will have the opportunity to enroll in the UofE Rx program with a representative from CanaRx on Tuesday, June 11 from 12 pm to 4 pm and Wednesday, June 12 from 9 am to 12 pm in Eykamp Hall Room 252, which will take place in conjunction with the HRA Health Screenings that will be held at the same location. If you have not scheduled a screening (or your screening next week is not at the same times CanaRX will be on campus), you are welcome to drop by and meet with the representative as they have time. If you are unable to meet with the CanaRx representative next week, they are planning to return to campus in September.

* Jerry Perry Retires

We would like to wish Jerry Perry a WFF employee the best on his retirement. Jerry has been with WFF, the housekeeping department here at the University, for 25 years. * St. Vincent and UE Neurologic Residency Receives Candidacy Status

UE Department of Physical Therapy is pleased to announce the St. Vincent Evansville & University of Evansville Neurologic Residency program has been granted candidacy status by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Accreditation. This achievement indicates that the program is making excellent progress toward final accreditation in October 2020. The program is pleased to welcome the first resident in August 2019 and anticipates continued growth and professional development in the field of neurologic physical therapy, ultimately enhancing the mind, body and spirit of individuals served in the Tri-State community.

* Jessica Zhang receives Scripps Howard Foundation Grant in Media Advertising

Jessica Zhang, Associate Professor of Communication, has received a Scripps Howard Foundation Grant through the Association of Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). Part of this grant will fund a visit to UE by a Visiting Professor who will work with students in developing their skills and knowledge in advertising through digital and social media.

* Purple Aces Coaches Caravan set for five stops

Five stops are on tap for the 2019 Purple Aces Coaches Caravan presented by Bud Light, which will feature visits to different venues across the Evansville area.

The 2019 caravan stops include:

  • June 19th – Doc’s Sports Bar, 6:30 p.m. – 1305 Stringtown Road, Evansville
  • July 17th – Mister B’s (Henderson, Ky.), 6:30 p.m. – 2611 UE-41, Henderson
  • August 28th – The Rooftop Food & Drinks, 6:30 p.m. – 112 NW Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Evansville
  • September 19th – Piston’s Bar & Grill, 6:30 p.m. – 2131 W. Franklin St., Evansville
  • October 23rd – Mister B’s (Evansville),6:30 p.m. – Will be located on N. Burkhardt in Evansville and is set to open in the summer of 2019

Hosted by Jevin Redman and Kyle Peach, the caravans will feature various University of Evansville coaches at each stop.  Aces men’s basketball coach Walter McCarty will take part in each stop while each other coach will make appearances as well.

Each caravan is free to attend.  Food and drinks may be purchased at each stop.  Prizes will be given out at each one and will include new logo Aces gear, unique UE experiences, Bud Light merchandise and much more.

Fans will also have the opportunity to receive ticket information for all Aces sports programs and mingle with coaches as they prepare for the 2019-20 seasons.

Dates and times are subject to change.  As each stop draws closer, follow UE Athletics on social media for the most up-to-date news.

* Women's Basketball Camps

The Aces Women's Basketball team is hosting two camps this summer! The first is the Elite Camp held for high school students on June 30th from 12-4. The second is a day camp held July 1-3rd for kids in grades 1-8. The information for the day camp is attached.
