A hooding and pinning ceremony and reception to honor 41 physical therapy doctoral candidates was held on Friday, May 10 in Shanklin Theatre with over 300 family and friends in attendance. The Physical Therapy faculty presented awards for outstanding achievements to the following graduates:
- The Outstanding Physical Therapist Award was presented to Mary Beth Garner in recognition of excellence in academic and clinical performance as well as overall professionalism.
- The Outstanding Clinical Performance was presented to Stephanie Cerino.
- Suzanne Leach and Michaela Kent received the Mary Kessler Leadership Award.
The class of 2019 presented Dr. Kyle Matsel with the Mary Bennett Award of Excellence- Outstanding Physical Therapy Professor of the year. Dr. Ling Liang was also recognized by the class at the Ace Care PT Volunteer of the Year.
Each year the faculty selects a member of the community for dedicated service to our students and support of improving health care. This year’s Friend of PT Award was given to Dr. Andy Lampkins, PhD, PharmD, associate professor of the UE Physician Assistant Program.
