Dear Members of the UE Family,

Most of you know by now that the University of Evansville is pursuing a designation as an Ashoka Changemaker Campus. On October 26-27, we will be visited by a team from the Ashoka organization and its affiliated campuses. If approved, this would put us in very select company as one of only a handful of institutions in the United States with this designation, including such institutions as Brown, Duke, Middlebury, and Cornell. Becoming a Changemaker Campus will open the door for enhanced national recruiting to UE and will also help us bring a focus and a way to talk about many of the really innovative and meaningful things that we have been doing for years.

We will be holding two open forums about the Ashoka visit. I hope very much that you can attend one of these meetings. These sessions are a chance to learn more about Ashoka, changemaking, and social innovation and to ask questions and share opinions with the Changemaker team. The first session will be held TODAY, October 11 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. in Koch Center 101. The second session will be held tomorrow at the same time and place.

Please do your best to attend one of these meetings and get to know more about both the process and the project. In an era of increased competition for fewer students, it is vital that we find ways to distinguish ourselves, and an Ashoka designation will be a huge asset for us in this regard.
