Dear Campus Community,

As you know, we’re always looking for ways to enhance the student experience at the University of Evansville. That’s why I’m pleased to announce an exciting new change in our on-campus food service. We have signed an agreement with Chartwells, a national food service provider, to begin serving the campus community in fall 2017.

Menu favorites from Chick-fil-a and Starbucks, as well as a multitude of other new dining options, will be available around campus this fall:

• Students will choose what’s served each semester at a themed Student Choice Station.
• New anytime dine provides all-you-can-eat access from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Satellite Smart Market Express stocked with fresh food daily

Last year, a committee of students, faculty, and staff members was formed to explore food service options with the goal of expanding the variety and quality of the dining experience at UE. The group reviewed proposals from numerous vendors and visited other universities to see first-hand how the various dining programs were implemented.

The committee was impressed with Chartwells’ array of services and its assurance of superior quality. Chartwells’ commitment to sustainability was also particularly impressive. The company focuses on reductions in food waste, solid waste to landfill, and efficiencies to minimize the use of water and electricity. They offer biodegradable to-go containers, specialized monitoring equipment to eliminate food waste, and donate leftover edible food to those in need. Chartwells sources seasonal and local foods first, offers vegetarian options without compromised flavor, and tailors menus to each individual campus.

Please join me in welcoming our new dining service partner to campus. Renovations to dining locations will begin in summer 2017 and come online through the fall semester.

Sincerely,

Tom Kazee
President
