It is important to understand the connection between your academic activity and financial aid eligibility. The first date of which to be aware is Tuesday, Aug. 30. That is the last day to add a class for the fall semester.  It is also the last day to drop a class without a ‘W’ grade appearing on your transcript.  If you are CERTAIN that you intend to drop a course, while still remaining in at least 12 credit hours (full-time), it is important to complete the process on or before Tuesday, Aug. 30.  If you want to change your schedule, be sure to complete a yellow add/drop form (available in the Registrar’s Office in Olmsted Hall), get your advisor’s signature on the form, and return the form to the Registrar’s Office no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

The number of credit hours for which you are enrolled as of Wednesday, Aug. 31 will be your official "attempted" credits used in May 2012 in the calculation for determining if you meet the federal, state and University standards for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). In May 2012 (end of spring semester), the Office of Financial Aid will divide the total number of credits you have earned by the total number of credits you have attempted. The calculation will be cumulative, using all of your credit hours at UE. The percentage must be at least 67%. If you drop a course after Tuesday, August 30 a “W” will appear on your transcript, and will count as “attempted” but not “earned.”
