* Information on Library Services during Construction

The first and second floors of the new Bower-Suhrheinrich Library will not be open at the start of the semester due to construction delays.  In the short term, until work is completed, the library will be offering the following service plan:

The Clifford Memorial Library entrance will remain open (as it has been during the summer) and most services will be offered from our temporary service desk in Room 262 (Acquisitions Department)

Hours of service will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The following services will be offered:
Pick up and drop off of library materials
Interlibrary loan and document delivery services
Course Reserve collection
Photocopier with scan-to-email capability

Library Instruction services will be offered as usual, but will be conducted in a course's regular classroom, or elsewhere on campus if necessary.

In addition, Research Assistance will be offered by Randy Abbott from his office in room 207.  Renovations are complete in the area adjacent to his office, so students can safely enter that part of the library to meet with him.

Students (and employees) can make Research Assistance appointments using our normal sign-up page.  We will also accommodate walk-in students who have research questions.

* UE Theatre Announces Child Auditions for Big Fish

The University of Evansville of Evansville Department of Theatre is holding auditions, 7 p.m., Monday, August 31, for two males, between the ages of 8 and 13, for their upcoming musical production of Big Fish. Auditions will be held in the May Studio Theatre on the University of Evansville campus.

Actors should prepare any song of their choice, bring sheet music for live accompaniment, and be prepared to read from the script. Actors should be available for some evening rehearsals, beginning mid- October and all performances, November 13 through 22.

Big Fish, book by John August, music and Lyrics by Andrew Lippa, is based on the novel Big Fish, by Daniel Wallace, and the Columbia Pictures Film. R. Scott Lank directs the production, with musical direction by Gregory B. Rike, and choreography by Ricki Newman. Set in the Deep South, this family-friendly, heart-warming, and fantastical musical is centered on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who possesses a strong desire to be a hero, both to himself and his son. His penchant for spinning tall tales and elaborate daydreams is solely to convince himself there is meaning and purpose to his ordinary life. This musical’s moving score honors the age-old art of storytelling by invoking the sense that imagination can transform even the humblest man’s life story into an unforgettable epic adventure.

* School of Business Students Spend Week with Top Executives at Farm Credit Mid-America

The Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) at the Schroeder School of Business has launched a new fellowship program in cooperation with Farm Credit Mid-America, an agricultural lending cooperative and one of the largest associations within the Farm Credit System. Four students from the Schroeder School of Business visited FCMA's headquarter in Louisville as well as three regional offices in Jasper, Owensboro, and Evansville. Under close supervision of Dr. Yasser Alhenawi, students were given the opportunity to discover the world of agricultural lending and administer tools from their courses in a real world environment, helping them to gain experience for their future.

Top executives from Farm Credit Mid-America, including CEO Bill Johnson, who is a UE alum, introduced students to agro-banking and taught them how to maintain an impressive work atmosphere while also improving customer relations and profits for the company.

"We had a wonderful week networking with executives and learning so much about business in agriculture. We left as four business students with no knowledge of agricultural lending, and returned as great friends with a lot of real world experience! We were able to put a lot of what we learned in class to use, and loved the work atmosphere this company maintains. We thank the Institute of Banking and Finance, Dr. Alhenawi, and Dr. Rawski for this great opportunity!"

* UE Athletics announces staff promotions

Nearly one year into his tenure as the Director of Athletics at the University of Evansville, Mark Spencer has announced promotions, title and responsibility changes for several staff members within the department, effective on August 24, 2015.

“I am proud to announce the new titles for our staff members, who have done a great job in their respective areas of our department,” Spencer said. “These title and responsibility changes are well-deserved and will put our staff organizational chart on par with those at similar institutions.”

Lance Wilkerson, who arrived at UE in 2010, officially becomes the department’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development and External Relations. Wilkerson has been in charge of development for the department since his arrival and will continue in that role while absorbing additional external duties. His work as the play-by-play voice for the Purple Aces men’s basketball team will also continue for the 2015-16 season.

In her 19th year with the department, Sarah Solinsky is now the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations and also the Senior Women’s Administrator. Solinsky was elevated to Senior Associate AD in 2010 and now adds sport supervision duties for five women’s sports including: basketball, softball, soccer, tennis and volleyball.

One of the longest tenured members of the department has been Terry Collins. He is in his 29th year at UE and is now the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine. Collins oversees the full athletic training office and works directly with the men’s soccer, swimming and golf teams. A former pitcher at UE, Collins returned to his alma mater as the head athletic trainer in 1987.

Bob Pristash, who started at UE as the Sports Information Director in 2011, is now the Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations. He oversees the media relations duties for all sports, working directly with men’s basketball, cross country, volleyball, golf and swimming/diving. In a retooling of the external communications, Mike Radomski has been promoted to the Director of Media Relations. His full-time tenure at UE enters its second year, but his work within the city of Evansville goes back much further. He spent 2010 through 2014 working for the Otters as the play-by-play voice and also worked with the Aces baseball and women’s basketball teams since 2011. Radomski is the contact for the UE men’s and women’s soccer teams, women’s basketball and baseball.

Acquiring the title of Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance is Jordan Stanley. Stanley came to the department in 2011 and is in his fifth year. His first four years were spent as the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Purple Aces. The NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from West Virginia University.

In addition to the title changes, and aside from the aforementioned duties of Sarah Solinsky, the other sports management assignments have been changed. Mark Spencer will take over those responsibilities for men’s basketball, baseball and men’s soccer. Director of Ticketing Services Scott Peace will be the point person for men’s and women’s golf while Director of Event Marketing and Management Dustin Hall will assume those duties for men’s and women’s cross country. Working with the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will be the Director of Business Operations. This newly-created position within the department is expected to be filled in the coming weeks.
