Former University of Evansville men’s basketball player Troy Taylor has inked his first professional deal as the point guard signed a deal to play for the London Lightning of the National Basketball League (NBL) of Canada.
“I am so excited to get this opportunity, I have been working very hard for this and it means a lot to see the work pay off,” Taylor said.
One of the most energetic players in recent memory, Taylor has shown that same energy since his graduation. It was his persistence that got him the opportunity, which has been in the works for a few weeks.
“I contacted the general manager on my own and threw all kinds of stats at him from my time at UE,” Taylor added. “I hoped he would get back with me and he did just that, I am very thankful.”
Purple Aces head coach Marty Simmons is proud of the chance that Taylor will have in playing for one of the top teams in the NBL.
