* UE Well Represented on MVC 2013-14 Academic Honors List

Sixty-two student-athletes highlight more than 1,500 who earned selection to the 2013-14 Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll, as announced by the league office. Those 62 student-athletes earned the league’s highest academic achievement by capturing the Missouri Valley Conference President’s Council Academic Excellence Award.

The President's Council Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.8 cumulative grade point average (through Spring 2014 semester), participation in athletics a minimum of two years, and the student-athlete must be within 18 hours of graduation. Also, hundreds of student-athletes received the league’s Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum grade point average of 3.5 for the previous two semesters, a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and participation in athletics.

In addition, the Missouri Valley Conference has announced its 2013-14 Honor Roll, which recognizes academic achievement of student-athletes. To qualify for The Valley Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.2 grade point average for a specified term (Fall 2013/Spring 2014), must have been a member of an athletics team, and must have a minimum of 12 hours of enrollment during the fall or spring semesters.

* 2014 Cross Country Schedule Released

Seven highly-competitive races are scheduled for the University of Evansville cross country teams this fall, as head coach Don Walters unveiled the 2014 schedule Thursday afternoon.

“This will be the most challenging schedule in my fifteen years of coaching at the college level,” said Walters. “Every event will have 15 – 50 teams that will offer a challenging competition for our team.”

Walters’ strongest racers, senior Josh Genet and junior Lauren Wolfe are expected to lead the team. “[They] will lead the way to victory this season,” said Walters of Genet and Wolfe.

The season will begin on Aug. 29 as the team travels to Nashville, Tenn., for the Belmont Invitational. The next week, the Aces will remain at home for their race against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 5, followed by the Indiana Intercollegiates at Purdue (Sept. 19).

In October, the team will race at home for the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 4 and the UE Invitational on Oct. 18. The season wraps up in November at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, which will be held at Southern Illinois on Nov. 1. The NCAA District Championship will be held in Madison, Wis., on Nov. 14
