* Retirement Reception for John Stanley Today

John StanleyA retirement reception honoring John Stanley, Director of Athletics, will be held Monday, June 30, from 3:00 – 4:30 p.m. in the Class of '59 Gallery and Lounge in Ridgway University Center. Please join the UE family to wish John a wonderful retirement and thank him for his years of service to Aces Athletics and the University of Evansville.

 

 

 
* Ice Cream for all UE Employees

UE employees are invited to come to the UE Bookstore on Friday, June 27 between 1:30-3 p.m. for some free ice cream. Take a break and stop by for a cool treat. Yes - it's really free too! 

 
* Visit UE - Summer Open House, July 12!

The Office of Admission is hosting its annual summer Open House on Saturday, July 12. If you have family members, friends, or neighbors who could benefit from a visit to campus, please encourage them to attend. They will join other prospective students from around the country in visiting with faculty members, learning about study abroad programs, discussing scholarship opportunities, touring campus including residence halls and enjoying lunch on campus. * Payroll Department Relocation Notice

Effective June 23, 2014, the payroll department will be relocated to the Accounting & Audit department in OH213. Please contact Gloria Spencer at ext. 2159 for payroll related issues including wage adjustments, tax withholding, direct deposit, and W-2 reporting. For questions related to changes in benefit elections, timekeeping entries, vacation and sick pay, please contact Lisa Schum at ext. 2038.

All other employment related issues and questions should be directed to the Human Resources department at ext. 2943.
 

 
* Open House Facilities Preparations

In preparation for our summer Open House, a contractor will be installing mulch in various campus landscapes during the week of June 23rd. There will be some disruption of parking in the following areas to provide ample space for the contractor to position their truck:
Koch Center (Lot C)
Sesquicentennial Oval (circle drive)
Schroeder School of Business

Disruptions should be minimal and not last more than a few days. We sincerely appreciate your patience during this necessary project.

* Lisa Kretz's Book Review on Tovar Cerulli's "The Mindful Carnivore" Published in Environmental Ethics

Assistant Professor of Philosophy Lisa Kretz's book review of Tovar Cerulli's "The Mindful Carnivore: A Vegetarian’s Hunt for Sustenance" has just been published in the journal Environmental Ethics, which has been referred to as the "major journal in this field...where most of the important papers are published." Cerulli, who was previously vegan, now argues in favor of hunting. Kretz takes issue with his thesis in a variety of ways.
