If interested in a free copy of the 2013 LinC, stop by Student Publications anytime today or next week to pick up one. While copies are limited, they are in a box outside of the door. Help yourself! 

 
* Libraries Announce Summer Session I & II Hours

UE Libraries will observe the following schedule of hours for Summer Session I & II beginning on May 19th and continuing through July 25th. Contact William Louden, University Librarian, with questions at 812.488.2376 or wflouden@evansville.edu.

Library Summer Session Hours

Monday: 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Tuesday: 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday: 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday: CLOSED
Sunday: CLOSED

Exceptions:

  • Memorial Day (5/26/14):CLOSED

* New Branding Guidelines Available

The Office of Marketing and Communications has updated the University’s branding guidelines and made it available for internal use on AceLink (http://acelink.evansville.edu/Areas/Marketing/). Once downloaded, please check back occasionally to make sure you have the most updated version, as this is a fluid document that will be kept updated regularly.

 
* Renewal Time for Pre-Approval Authorization for Distribution Services (PAADS)

It is time to renew “PAADS” (Pre-Approval Authorization for Distribution Services) forms for the new Fiscal Year 2014-15 period of June 1, 2014 through May 31, 2015.

The renewal process is simple.

1. Print the PAADS form which is located on the Copy Services or Central Receiving website on AceLink Areas under Forms & Instructions at
• Copy Services website at http://acelink/Areas/CopyServices/
• Central Receiving website at http://acelink/Areas/Central Receiving/
2. Complete the PAADS form by indicating the services requested, a dollar limit, the account number, and the account name to be used by the requester.
3. Obtain the required authorized signature.
4. Submit the form via campus mail to Doris Cook/Distribution Services/GS.

* Accounting & Audit Announces Procedures for Summer Travel Expenses and Membership Dues Paid with Pcard

Traveling this summer on UE business with a return date after May 31, 2014? Paying membership dues for next fiscal year prior to May 31? If you use your Pcard prior to May 31 to pay for some of those travel expenses or membership dues, you will need to e-mail Lori Harriss (lh177@evansville.edu) in Accounting & Audit with the following information:

Vendor name
Date of purchase on Pcard
Dollar amount charged to Pcard
Description and purpose of purchase
Account number charged for purchase

These expenses will be charged to your 2014-15 budget funds.

* CW Professor Guest Author in Toledo, Ohio for Claire's Day

Professor of Creative Writing Margaret McMullan was a guest author for Claire’s Day Book Festival in Toledo, Ohio, recently. Professor McMullan visited Grove Patterson Academy and Marshall School to talk about literature and careers in writing. On Saturday, May 17, Professor McMullan gave readings and signed books at the book festival, where approximately 5,000 people gathered.

Claire’s Day, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children and families to be lifelong readers through exposure to a variety of literary opportunities and experiences. The book festival is to honor Claire Lynsey Rubini, who passed away from a heart condition in 2000, when she was ten years old. Claire loved to read and tell stories.
 

 
* Sociology Graduates Score in 97th Percentile!

The 2014 sociology and sociology-anthropology graduates scored in the 97th percentile on the Major Field Test in Sociology. The MFT assesses student knowledge in a broad range of the discipline of Sociology and is administered at top universities around the country. 

 
* Birth Announcement

Mark and Paula Logel are the new grandparents of Johnathon Gene Burch, son of Lauren and Nick Burch. Lauren is a UE 2008 alumn. Johnathon Gene entered the world on Tuesday, May 13, at 8 Lb. 5.6 oz. and 22" long. Mark is the director of Administrative Services and Risk Management. 

 
* Amy Hall - Hero of the Year

Congratulations! Amy Hall and other members of of the Disaster Action Team received the Red Cross Hero of the Year Award on May 15. The Disaster Action Team deals with disasters ranging from single family fires to widespread disasters like tornadoes and floods. Amy is on call 24 hours a day for Vanderburgh County, and she is available to assist in other counties when needed. She is responsible for assuring that disaster clients’ immediate medical and health needs are met. She trains all UE senior nursing students in disaster health care and provides training to other health care providers who want to become disaster volunteers. 

 
* Baby Announcement

Joey Tipton, assistant professor in MECE, and his wife, Loraine, welcomed a new bundle of joy on Tuesday, May 13th. Joseph B. Tipton III entered the world at 6 lbs 4 oz and was 19.5" long. Congratulations, Joey and Loraine!!
