* UE's Aguilera Earns MVC State Farm Good Neighbor Award

University of Evansville softball player Allison Aguilera was chosen today as one of nine spring sport athletes in the Missouri Valley Conference to receive an MVC State Farm Good Neighbor Award.  Other UE recipients of the award in 2010-11 were volleyball player Ellen Sawin in the fall, and basketball player Briyana Blair in the winter.

Aguilera played numerous positions for the Aces this spring, and finished fifth on the team in hitting with a .220 average.  Her 3.60 grade point average earned the Accounting major a place on the MVC Softball Scholar-Athlete Team.  Aguilera was also one of the leaders in community outreach hours among UE student-athletes in 2010-11.

"Allison has demonstrated a strong desire to give back to the Evansville community," said UE Senior Associate Director of Athletics Sarah Solinsky. "Her energy and leadership have been vital in expanding our Student Athlete Advisory Committee's (SAAC) community service initiatives."

The MVC State Farm Good Neighbor Award was created to honor the achievements of exceptional MVC student-athletes. In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport during the season of recognition.

State Farm Insurance is a long-time sponsor of the Missouri Valley Conference and sponsors all 18 MVC championship events.  Also, State Farm is a prominent sponsor of the league's television network and a sponsor of the Missouri Valley Conference's community outreach program, "Just Read!"
