The UE Bookstore will be closed on Friday, May 31 for our year end inventory.  There will be no access to the Bookstore during this day.  Please plan your purchases accordingly.

* Scam Alerts – Copiers/Printers

Individuals on campus are again randomly receiving scam calls from individuals requesting departmental printer and/or copier information (model or serial numbers, cartridge numbers, etc.).  Keep in mind, UE current printer/copier vendors already have access to UE equipment information and will never call departments requesting it.  In some cases, scammers are calling for individuals by name, saying that they need copier/printer information for repair purposes.  A scammers intent is to obtain information and to bill the University. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION.  Simply tell the caller that you are not authorized to provide information and refer them to the Office of Administrative Services.  Usually this quickly ends the conversation.

If you receive a scam call, please report it to Kim Winsett, Office of Administrative Services at 2940.

* Administrative Services' Areas Closed for Lunch

Please note that the Office of Administrative Services which includes Purchasing, Copy Services, Mail Services, Recycling, Risk Management, and Central Receiving will be closed for a staff luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 6.

* Applications Now Being Accepted for Dr. Marvin E. Hartig Scholarship

Family, friends and loved ones of Dr. Marvin E. Hartig are pleased to announce the application process for the Dr. Marvin E. Hartig Memorial Scholarship.  This scholarship is dedicated to the loving memory of Dr. Hartig, Dean of Evansville College’s Evening College in 1967, and administrator for the Center for Advanced Study, director of the Evansville chapter of the American Institute of Banking (AIB), and the international student advisor.  In 1974, Dr. Hartig was appointed Dean of Academic Services.  He retired in 1984 after serving his alma mater for thirty-five years and passed away in 2007.

Applicants must be sophomores in 2013-14 and must show demonstrated financial need on the 2013-14 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Preference will be given to a student working while being enrolled as a full-time student.

International students are also encouraged to apply and should include in their essay any particular factors impacting their financial need and how the scholarship money will benefit them since international students do not have FAFSA forms on file.

Applicants must submit the completed application and a typed statement (not to exceed one page), describing themselves, their scholastic and career goals, why they need this scholarship, and how the scholarship proceeds might be used.

Completed applications are to be sent to the Office of Financial Aid by June 1, 2013.  Decisions will be announced by August 1, 2013.    Applications may be emailed to financialaid@evansville.edu; or JL25@evansville.edu

* Men's Soccer Camps Approaching Quick

Men’s soccer camp is right around the corner as the Purple Aces program will host six camps over the next two months for players in several age groups.

Full information is available by visiting acessoccercamp.com.  Notes on each camp are also available below.  All campers receive an Aces Soccer Camp t-shirt and a certificate of achievement.  Full-day camps include a hot lunch and drink.  For more information, contact the Evansville Soccer Office at 812-488-2294.

The Advanced Day Camps mark the first of the schedule and will take place from June 3-7.  Going from 8 a.m. until noon each day, the camp is the most intensive one offered and is geared to serious travel or select players.  It is open to boys from U8 to U13.

Beginning on June 10 and running through the 14th, the Day Camps are open to boys and girls age K-6.  Full and half day options are available as the full goes from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. while the half day goes from 9 a.m. until noon.  Campers are grouped by age and ability and will work in skill training and development while participating in scrimmage matches later in the day.  Indoor space is available should severe weather limit play outdoors.

On June 29 and 30, UE will host boys age 11 through 14 for the Middle School Elite Camp and the Middle School Goalkeeper Academy.  The elite camp provides a highly competitive atmosphere for serious soccer players.  A focus is placed on technical and functional position training using small group and team tactics.

There will be a team tournament for each age group with evening matches at Arad McCutchan Stadium, home of the Purple Aces.  Also included in the camp is a college recruiting seminar for those interested in playing at the collegiate level.  Training sessions in the camp help the athlete prepare for high school and college careers.

The Goalkeeper Academy is regarded as one of the best in the country.  Methodology used as the camp has been shared with goalkeepers who have gone on to play for the United States National Teams, Major League Soccer, in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) and the highest collegiate levels.

College ID Camp and Goalkeeper Academy mark the final camps of the season and take place on July 20 and 21 for boys age 15-18.  The camp is designed for serious soccer players who are looking at taking their high school careers to the next level in college.  Small group training and team tactics help players to improve in those areas while a tournament will take place at McCutchan Stadium in the evening for each age group.

Goalkeepers looking at improving their skills in that age group are encouraged to take part in the Goalkeeper Academy where the drills used in that camp have been used to teach those who play at the highest levels in college, in the pros and for the U.S. National Team.
