Info You Should Know

* US Homeland Security carrier services alert

The Department of Homeland Security has identified the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio, on July 18–21, and the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on July 25-28, as National Special Security Events.

Because of this, shipment delays by carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.) are anticipated in postal codes within the security zones in the Cleveland and Philadelphia areas during the conventions. Shipments not delivered prior to the conventions will be secured in carrier facilities. Delivery will be attempted when it is safe for carriers to do so.

To view maps of restricted areas, road closures, and up-to-date announcements, visit the US Secret Service website.

The above information is subject to change due to government security procedures. Typically, shipments delayed due to US Homeland Security restrictions are not eligible for a carrier refund or credit under the money-back guarantee policy.

Athletics

* Three UE women's golfers named All-America Scholars

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars were announced with a total of 828 women’s collegiate golfers recognized with this prestigious honor. Among those honored were three University of Evansville golfers – Kayla Katterhenry, Giulia Mallmann, and Maria Pickens.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

“It is great to have three of our players recognized for their outstanding academic achievements. I am proud of them for the work they have done with our program,” UE head coach Jim Hamilton said. “We strive for academic excellence on our team and these girls exemplify what we stand for.”

Katterhenry, who finished in second place at the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, has matched that effort in her studies. The junior stands at a 3.66 GPA. Mallmann has also excelled in the classroom. With two years of coursework under her belt, Mallmann has accumulated a GPA of 3.69.

In her first year of college, Pickens has performed admirably on the course and in the classroom. She finished her freshman year with a GPA of 3.85.
