* Koch and Powell Parking Lots Restricted for Today

Today, July 21, the Powell parking lot will be closed off and Koch parking lot will have restricted parking due to the hazardous waste pick-up. Regular parking will resume tomorrow, Wednesday, July 22.

* UE Gardeners Farmers' Market in Ridgway University Center Tomorrow

The UE Gardeners will hold a Farmers' Market in Ridgway University Center tomorrow - Wednesday, July 22 - beginning at 9 a.m.  Beans, squash, basil, greens, beets, peppers, and tomatoes will be available.  

 
* Summer End Buyback

The will be a summer ending Buyback in the UE Bookstore today and Friday.  If you have any books you are wanting to get rid of stop in the Bookstore during regular store hours during these dates.

* Observers needed for Fire Drills

Fire drills will be held throughout the school year in the academic and administrative buildings, and we need volunteers to help observe the drills. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Jan Schrader at js652. These fire drills help make our campus safer for all - your help will be appreciated! 

 
* UE Theatre Welcomes New Senior Administrative Assistant

Liz EvansUE Theatre is excited to welcome our new senior administrative assistant, Liz 'Nichols' Evans. Liz and her family recently moved to Evansville from Lafayette, where she worked at Purdue University. Her husband, Chad is the new chief meteorologist at CBS44 WEVV, and they have two children. Hadley is three years old and Ryland is celebrating his 10-week birthday this week. Welcome to the UE family, Liz! 

 
* July Pcard Cycle Ends July 21 at Midnight

The July Cycle which began on June 23 ends on July 21 at midnight. Transactions may be reconciled throughout the month and reports may be printed on July 23 until the GL lockout on July 28. 

 
* Registrar's Office Hours Week of July 20-24

In order to work on processes meant to serve you better, the Registrar’s Office will be open limited hours during the week of July 20. We will be open from 8-9 am each morning and again 3:30-4:30 pm through July 24. Please note that we will be closed from 9 am- 3:30 each day and will not be accepting or answering walk-in traffic, phone calls or email during this time. Be assured that all of your inquiries will be addressed during our open hours those days or the next week as we resume normal business hours. Thank you for patience and understanding as we continue to strive for excellent student service!

* Andueza Publishes Book Chapter

Lorena Andueza, assistant professor of Spanish, co-authored a book chapter entitled “The Pragmatics of Embedded Exclamatives” in Interdisciplinary Studies in Pragmatics, Culture and Society, edited by Alessandro Capone and Jacob L. May (Springer). 

 
* Douglas Reed Serves as RYACOP Adjudicator

University Organist Emeritus Douglas Reed served as one of three adjudicators for the Regional Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance (RYACOP) at the American Guild of Organists 2015 Great Lakes Region V Convention in Indianapolis on July 10.

RYACOP takes place bi-annually after a preliminary round at local AGO chapters throughout the region. Winners in each AGO region throughout the U.S. will perform as “Rising Stars” at the biennial national convention to be held in Houston next summer.

Over the past three decades, several of Reed’s students have placed in RYACOP and NYACOP, the national level of the AGO competition. In 1984, Matthew Boatmon was a NYACOP finalist in San Francisco. Kirk Rich performed as a “Rising Star” in Minneapolis (2009) and as a RYACOP finalist in Columbus, Ohio (2012). In 2013, Rachel Bennett competed in the RYACOP in Kalamazoo.  In 2014, Kirk Rich was one of three finalists in the Boston NYACOP. 

The July 10 competition took place at Trinity Episcopal Church, Indianapolis.
