Senior Jaylon Moore will play his final regular season home game on Saturday as the University of Evansville basketball team is set to face Illinois State at 1 p.m. inside the Ford Center.

Heritage Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the game as tickets will be just $10.  For tickets, visit the Carson Center or Ford Center ticket offices or call 812-488-ACES.

In a battle until the end, the Purple Aces fell by a 68-57 final on Wednesday evening at #10 Northern Iowa.  After scoring 43 points at the McLeod Center last season, D.J. Balentine was the Aces’ top scorer with 16.  Egidijus Mockevicius posted his second-consecutive double-double and 17th of the season as he finished with 10 points and 10 boards; he also blocked three shots.  The difference in the game came from outside as UNI was 9/21 beyond the arc while the Panthers also finished with a 26-13 edge in points off turnovers.

Nobody embodies just what it means to be a basketball player at the University of Evansville more than Jaylon Moore and today, he will play his final regular season home game with the program.  Moore has improved by leaps and bounds every single year with the school and he is one of the main reasons that the Purple Aces are looking to win 20 regular season contests for the first time since 1998-99.  He has started six games this season while shooting an unbelievable 75.9%.  Moore currently stands at 391 points and has had a strong season, posting 13 points on two occasions; his top game with the program came last season in the home game against Indiana State where he scored 14 points.

UE head coach Marty Simmons has won six out of seven Senior Day games in his tenure as Evansville’s head coach.  That lone loss came in his first season as he has been victorious in the last six regular-season home finales.  Evansville has been very strong in Senior Day games under Coach Simmons, winning those six games by an average of 8.0 points per game.

Going into the final weekend of the season, the Purple Aces are pretty much locked into the 4-5 game in Arch Madness.  The opponent is still to be determined but will be either Indiana State or Illinois State.  Interestingly enough, in each of the last three years, the opponent that UE has played in its last home game has been the first opponent in Arch Madness.

With a mark of 18-11 overall and 10-7 in MVC play, Illinois State enters the regular season finale with a guarantee of a top five spot in the league.  The Redbirds have a chance to finish third with a win and Indiana State loss at Bradley and can drop into the fourth/fifth place game with a loss to the Aces.  Daighon Knight is the top scorer for the Redbirds at 14.1 PPG while DeVaughn Purcell checks in at 12.9.  Third on the squad is one of the premier big men in the nation as sophomore Reggie Lynch has notched 9.3 points while blocking an unbelievable 75 shots on the season.
