* Condolences

Emeritus Professor Helen Smith passed away on October 16, 2010.  Dr. Smith was the Dean of the School of Nursing until her retirement in 1984.  A memorial service is scheduled to celebrate Dr. Smith’s life on Saturday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 609 SE Second Street in Evansville, with Pastor Kevin Flemming officiating.  President Emeritus Wallace B. Connect for a Cause -a professional speed networking event - is set for Aug. 4 from 6-8 p.m. in Eykamp 251, Ridgway University Center. This annual event is sponsored by the 2011 Organizational Leadership Cohort and UE Career Services. Link your job search and support a local nonprofit organization by attending. Meet employers, make contacts and learn about networking from keynote speaker Bob Jones, president and Chief Executive Officer of Old National Bank.  Entry requires one canned food item for later donation to the Evansville Christian Life Center.

This networking activity is the practicum summer project for the OL Cohort, providing students with the opportunity to put their education to work in support of the Evansville community.

 

 

Congratulations

* Kate Upton Selected for Harriett G. Jenkins NASA Pre-doctoral Fellowship

Kate Upton, a 2011 professional chemistry graduate, has been selected to receive a Harriett G. Jenkins NASA pre-doctoral fellowship.  The Jenkins Pre-doctoral Fellowship Project seeks to increase the number of graduate degrees awarded to underrepresented persons in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.  Kate will begin her graduate studies in chemistry this fall at the California Institute of Technology.
