* Parker Hensley Named All-American Scholar

Graduated University of Evansville senior Parker Hensley became the second men’s golfer this season to be named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.

“This is a great honor for Parker, I am very proud of his work in the classroom, on the course and in the community,” UE head coach Jim Hamilton said. “He has worked very hard to achieve All-America status and he could not be more deserving of this honor.”

The native of San Antonio, Texas had his top season as a senior with the Purple Aces. With a stroke average of 74.48, Hensley finished the year over two strokes under his career average. His performance put him 12th in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Hensley’s top effort came in the 2013 Butler Fall Invitational as he tied for second place on the leaderboard. A 2-under 68 in the opening round was followed up by a 1-over 71 as he finished the tournament one shot under par with a 139. He registered another top 20 finish, tying for 20th out of 93 participants at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.

In the spring of 2014, Hensley picked up right where he left off in the fall, tying for 11th place as the men took top honors at the Benbow Invitational. He performed well in the clutch at the Bradley Invitational, carding an even 144 over two rounds of play. That effort tied him for sevent place as the Aces took their second team championship of the season.

While improving each season on the course, Hensley also did the same in the classroom. That culminated with a 3.875 GPA in his senior campaign at UE.

Over 200 players in Division I, 75 in Division II and 11 in NAIA earned the honor. Additionally, 46 honorees were added to the previously released Division III Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II, 77.0 in NAIA and 79.0 in Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

* Yasser Alhenawi Has Paper Published in Review of Financial Economics

Yasser Alhenawi, assistant professor of finance, has had a paper entitled "On the Interaction between Momentum Effect and Size Effect " accepted for publication in the Review of Financial Economics. The paper analyzes the interaction between the size effect and the momentum effect in cross-sectional stock returns and reports a significant shift in stock returns structure during the rising markets of the 1990s and the 2000s. The documented patterns indicate that the size and momentum effects are not completely independent as previously document in literature; rather, they stem from a common economic phenomenon: growth.
