Info You Should Know

* USPS and UPS Closed on Friday, July 4, 2014 for INDEPENDENCE DAY

Both the United States Postal Service and United Parcel Service will be closed on INDEPENDENCE DAY, Friday, July 4. Please plan accordingly. For mailing questions, contact Mail Services at extension 2197 

 
* TIAA-CREF Counseling Appointments

The TIAA-CREF representative will be on the UE campus on Tuesday, July 22 and Thursday, July 24, for individual counseling sessions. To schedule an appointment, call TIAA-CREF at 1-800-732-8353 or 317-706-6200. The sessions are held in the Clifford Rare Books Room of the University Libraries (room 158). If you have any questions, call Carol McCraney at 488-2943. 

 
* Libraries Closed on Independence Day

UE Libraries will be closed on Independence Day, July 4th. The Libraries will resume regular summer hours on Monday morning, July 7th. 

 
* UE Bookstore Holiday hours

The UE Bookstore will have reduced hours on Thursday, July 3 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will be closed on July 4. Please plan visits accordingly.

* Beavers and the University Mentioned in the Wall Street Journal

Anthony F. Beavers, professor of philosophy and director of the Digital Humanities Laboratory, was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal this past Monday, along with the University of Evansville, regarding the professor's concerns about the ability of social media to shape the democratic process.

The article was based on comments from Dr. Patrick Lin of California Polytechnic, where Beavers has spoken twice about the pros and cons of social interaction via Facebook. 

 
* Kathleen M. Murphy

Kathleen M. Murphy, PhD, MT-BC, assistant professor of music therapy, will be presenting at the World Congress of Music Therapy, in Krems an der Donau, Austria July 8-12. Murphy will be one of 5 music therapists participating in the Pre-Congress Seminar Music and Time: International Perspectives. She will be focusing on time as it relates to music therapy and addiciton treatment.
