* Pre-Game Event Planned for Saturday's Matchup with Butler

Faculty, staff, alumni, students and other Aces are welcome to gather at Kilroy’s in Broad Ripple starting at 11:30 a.m. (Eastern time) to get psyched for the big game this Saturday at Butler.  11:30 a.m. ET – 1:30 p.m. ET, Kilroy’s Bar and Grill, 831 Broad Ripple Avenue, Indianapolis.  There is no cost and children are welcome.  Questions?  Contact alumni@evansville.edu

 
* Retirement Reception for Steve Neff Planned for Today!

Steve “Animal” Neff is retiring after 33 years of service to the University, and will be honored at a reception on December 20 from 1:30-3:00 p.m. in the Ridgway University Center Class of ’59 Gallery and Lounge.  Everyone is invited to join in celebrating Steve’s unique contributions to the University as the Physical Plant carpenter and talented artist/sculptor, and to wish him a long and satisfying retirement.

 

Info You Should Know

* Late UrEntal Returns

If you still have UrEntal rental books from the Fall term you need to return them to the UE Bookstore as soon as possible.  UrEntal books for the fall term were due back December 12, 2012.  There will be a $10 late assessed for late returns after December 17th.  Failure to return your rental book could result in replacement fees being assessed to your account.  If you have any questions please contact the Bookstore.  Renters who were late were sent an email indicating they had rental books past due.

 
* Administrative Services' Areas Closed for Lunch

Please note that the Office of Administrative Services including Purchasing, Copy Services, Mail Services, Recycling, Risk Management, and Central Receiving will be closed for a Christmas staff luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19.

* Attention Cardholders

Athletics

* Swimming and Diving Splits with Eastern Illinois

The University of Evansville men’s and women’s swimming and diving team split in a dual meet against Eastern Illinois today at Wyttenbach Pool in Carson Center.  The Aces women’s team defeated the Panthers 196-184 while the men’s team fell 198-170.

The UE women placed first in seven different events, including both the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 4:09.89 as well as the 400-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 3:45.74. Teammates Caroline Lee, Jill Enge, Michea Reinitz, and Abby Smith secured a first place win in the women’s 800-yard medley relay with a time of 8:54.41. Lee and Enge also took the top spot in the women’s 300-yard breaststroke relay with a time of 3:25.57 with teammate Mackenzie Powell. Meanwhile, Melissa Ball, Mackenzie Harris, Alex Moore, and Maja Magnusson claimed a victory in the 500-yard freestyle relay clocking in at 4:53.95. The UE women also posted wins in both the 300-yard butterfly relay with a time of 3:03.16 and the 200-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 1:40.51.

The UE men also claimed wins in seven different events, including the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.41 and the 400-yard medley relay with a final time of 3:42.49. Teammates Matthew Newland, Garrett Johnson, and Cameron Wickes were victorious in the men’s 1500-yard freestyle relay with a final time of 15:04.70. Wickes also contributed to a win in the men’s 500-yard freestyle relay along with teammates Phil Stevenson, Daniel Musselwhite, and Ashton Bishop with a time of 4:19.78. Ethan O’Rourke, Troy Burger, Christopher Weisheit, and Alex Seward took the top spot in the 800-yard medley relay with a time of 8:10.58. Seward and Weisheit also posted a win in the men’s 300-yard butterfly relay with teammate Carder Labrake clocking in at 2:41.27.

The Aces look to return to the pool in January when the UE men take on Lindsey Wilson in Columbia, Kentucky on January 11. The UE women will travel to Nashville on January 12 to face Vanderbilt.

 
* Men's Basketball Topples Hornets, 80-67

Senior Colt Ryan scored a game-high 24 points and in the process, passed Scott Haffner for fifth on the UE all-time list as the Purple Aces earned an 80-67 victory over Alabama State at the Ford Center.

Ryan hit 7-of-16 shots to go along with three treys and a 7-7 performance from the free throw line.  Ryan Sawvell tallied a season-high 11 points for the Aces (6-4) while Jaylon Moore notched ten.  Leading Alabama State (1-8) was Phillip Crawford, who notched 22.

“We did a lot of good things, we played harder and saw everyone continue to grow,” UE head coach Marty Simmons said.  “We got to the line 33 times, so we were very aggressive.  That is the way we have to play.”
