What's Happening Today

* Bookstore Sale

The UE Bookstore sale runs through Thursday, December 13.  Get 15% off all UE clothing and gift purchases during the period.  Students who sell back books have the chance to get 20% or 25% off their purchases through the Bookstore "Scratch and Win" promotion during Buyback - December 6-12.

* Bookstore Buyback

"Scratch and Win" Book Buyback starts on December 6 and runs through December 12 in the UE Bookstore.  The Bookstore quotes all books whether used on this campus or not and gives you cash on the spot.  Please bring your ID when selling books.

Also during Buyback you can win prizes instantly including two Grand Prizes along with merchandise discounts from 15%...20%...25% percent.

Sell back as many times as you want but remember in some cases the earlier you sell may net you more money based on the quantities the store is buying for itself.

Bring all CDs and components with you as they may increase the value of your book and clean up workbooks if you can to give them value.

If you have any questions please contact the Bookstore ... and remember books bought remain on this campus as much as possible to help keep book prices lower.

* Women's Golf Signs Two For Next Season

University of Evansville women’s golf coach Jim Hamilton has announced the signing of Maggie Camp and Kayla Katterhenry to National Letters of Intent to play for UE beginning in 2013.“We are happy to welcome Kayla and Maggie to our program, both are outstanding golfers as well as students.  It is great for us to bring two local products to the University of Evansville; they are two of the best golfers in the state of Indiana,” head golf coach Jim Hamilton said.  “Both bring a competitive toughness that you look for as a coach and that attitude will be a benefit to everyone on the team.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to coach these girls to successful careers at UE.”

Camp is a native of nearby Wadesville, Ind. where she attended North Posey High School where she has led her team to a 35-12 record.  By signing with the Purple Aces, she becomes the first female from her high school to sign with a Division I institution.

She brings several accolades to UE, including a 2012 IHSAA Sectional Championship along with being a Quarterfinalist in this year’s Indiana State Junior Championship.  A 4-time All-PAC player, she had many other successful tournaments this season including a runner-up finish at the Pepsi Masters Tour and an 11th place finish at the Indiana Section Jr PGA while taking medalist honors at the Wildcat Invitational the last two years.

Katterhenry is another local player who is from Newburgh and will graduate from Castle High School in the spring.  She has been extremely successful in her high school career, leading Castle to a pair of SIAC Championships along with two State Finalist finishes while being named her team MVP all four years.  She qualified for the State High School Championship all four years while finishing in the top 15 all four years while placing in the top four twice.  In 2011, Kayla won the Girl’s Indiana State Junior Championship, the only player ever from the Evansville area to accomplish that feat.

While competing against all of the top women in the state of Indiana, she was runner-up in the 2012 Indiana Women’s State Amateur with a 3-round total of 220.  On the national scene, Kayla played in the prestigious North South Junior Amateur, finishing as the runner-up at Pinehurst, N.C.  Just as impressive was her career-low of 65 at the EJGA Master Series event at Rolling Hills.

A two-sport star at Castle, Katterhenry also played softball, winning MVP honors in 2012 while garnering a berth on the SIAC All-Conference 2nd Team last season.  The tradition of the Purple Aces is nothing new to Katterhenry and her family as he grandfather Ed is a former basketball player at UE and was voted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 1984.  Her uncle, Jimmy Fisher, was a soccer player for the Purple Aces in the early 1990’s.

* Hajderovic Named to NSCAA All-Region Team

University of Evansville men’s soccer player Faik Hajderovic was named to the NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Midwest Region Third Team in an announcement by the NSCAA Monday evening.

Hajderovic led the Purple Aces offensively with 15 points, recording five goals and five assists during his freshman campaign to earn All-Missouri Valley Conference honorable mention status, All-MVC Freshman Team recognition and a spot on the MVC All-Tournament Team.  The St. Louis native also attempted a team-high 45 shots and led UE with 20 shots on goal.

Hajderovic opened his collegiate career by scoring six points in his first five collegiate games and earned MVC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 1.  The freshman forward notched his first-career goal in a win over Cincinnati to earn a spot on the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic All-Tournament team.

Evansville finished 9-8-1 overall during the 2012 season and tied for third in the final MVC standings with a 3-2-1 mark in league play
