UE’s Bouchard Selected at Prairie Farms/MVC Scholar Athletes of Week

Chris Bouchard of the University of Evansville and Julie Darling of Wichita State University have been selected as the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the period of April 25-May 1, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced yesterday.

The Valley's Scholar-Athlete program, which is sponsored by Prairie Farms, Roberts and Hiland Dairies, honors conference student-athletes for their athletic performance for a one-week period and academic success in the classroom. The program began during the 1999-00 academic year.

A member for the UE men's golf team, Bouchard, a sophomore from Zion, Ill., earned first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors by placing fifth in the 2005 State Farm/MVC Championship on April 25-26. Bouchard, who has a 3.18 cumulative grade-point average in engineering, shot a three-round total of 223, including a season-low 72 in the final round, to power the Purple Aces to a fifth-place team finish.
